“Sit down.”

“SIT THE FUCK DOWN, SLOANE!”

Mateo kicks the chair toward me, and I just stand there, stunned. I’ve never seen him this angry—never at me.

“Mateo, calm down.”

He turns to Zane, and whatever Zane was about to say dies on his tongue. One look from Mateo and he steps back, hands raised, like even breathing near him might set him off.

Vance, on the other hand, looks just as furious.
