Before I could drag air into my lungs, Rocco tossed me onto the massive mattress. I bounced against the plush dark sheets, the breath knocked clear out of my ribs. Panic surged through my blood. I scrambled back toward the carved wooden headboard, dragging my knees tight against my chest to build a wall between us.
