Revealing The True Aura

Nara stared at Kaelen’s taut, handsome face. In that agonizing moment, the thick rosy filter she had wrapped around him for five years shattered. The warning etched into his sharp features no longer sparked fear or a desire to please him. Instead, a chilling clarity settled over her mind. Only now did she see the truth. The man standing before her was not the savior she remembered. All of her past devotion, the late nights spent hunched over sketchpads, the endless sacrifices she made in the dark—it all felt meaningless. Every ounce of love she poured into him had been thrown into a bottomless void.

She looked at the man she once adored and felt the last ember of her hope turn to ash.

"I'm not making a scene, Sir Kardos. I'm Aura. The real Aura." Her voice emerged hoarse from the emotional toll, yet steady as steel as she declared the truth to the silent room.

Deafening gasps rippled through the massive crowd. The reporters buzzed, their cameras flashing like a sudden lightning storm. The murmurs grew into a tidal wave of confusion and shock.

Shaya's carefully crafted composure snapped. The elegant mask of the genius designer melted away, revealing the panicked fraud beneath. She stormed forward from behind Kaelen, pointing a trembling finger right in Nara's face. "Shut your damn mouth! Are you really that pathetic and desperate for attention? Kaelen is the only person in the world who knows who Aura really is. Do you honestly believe he would ever vouch for you?"

Kaelen’s patience broke. Furious that Nara would dare to steal Shaya's shining moment and risk his company's reputation on this crucial day, he lunged forward. He strode across the space separating them, his jaw clenched tight.

Kaelen grabbed Nara’s wrist and hissed with venomous authority. "Come with me."

Nara stared down at his grip, her voice laced with nothing but profound disgust. "Let go."

Once upon a time, getting pulled by Kaelen in public would have felt like a miracle. It would have been proof that she mattered to him. Now, she realized with clarity that he wasn't trying to protect her from the media vultures. He was focused on protecting Shaya's fragile ego. He was trying to silence the truth to save his own empire.

She twisted her arm, but the grip held firm. When Kaelen ignored her defiance and pulled harder, the suited stranger stepped smoothly between them.

A faded, intricate tattoo flashed on his exposed wrist as he moved to intercept. He positioned his tall frame as a solid wall between Nara and her ex-husband.

"Sir Kardos, Lady Vance told you to let go. A real man should know how to behave like a gentleman." The man's voice was low, cool, and dripping with lethal restraint.

Without warning, the stranger clamped his massive hand down on Kaelen’s wrist. He applied terrifying, crushing force. Bone nearly cracked aloud under the merciless grip, making Kaelen wince. The sudden jolt of sharp pain forced him to release Nara.

Nara stepped back, rubbing her stinging skin, widening the gap between herself and the man she used to call her husband.

Kaelen growled, his eyes blazing with territorial fury. He glared at the stranger, furious at the physical challenge. "Who the hell are you? Try anything else and I will have you thrown out."

"You can try." The stranger replied with steely, unbothered calm, holding his ground without breaking a sweat.

Refusing to waste a single breath on the masculine standoff, Nara raised her hand and tapped her bracelet again. The massive screen behind the stage illuminated once more, casting a bright glow over the shocked audience.

It projected a personal, behind-the-scenes video. A much younger, devoted Nara shyly handed a design folder to Kaelen in a sunlit office. Her smile was bright, her eyes filled with raw adoration. She looked like a girl who would gladly give the world to the man sitting across from her.

On the screen, her younger self spoke with pure love. "Can my designer name be Aura? Kaelen, I want to be your Aura."

His voice on the video dripped with promises that now felt like poison. "Okay. From now on, you are Aura. One day, I will make the world recognize your immense talent. And when that day comes, I promise to give you a breathtaking dream wedding with roses, fireworks, and everything you have ever wanted."

The footage transitioned into undeniable, irrefutable proof. Clear clips played of Nara sketching the exact Devotion series currently on display. The camera zoomed in as she wove her signature lily motifs into the delicate metalwork. It showed her embedding her complex hidden watermarks, a technique unique to her craftsmanship. The final shot showed Kaelen signing off on every single piece of her work, his bold signature sealing the authentic documents.

Wild whispers of disbelief consumed the crowd. The reporters documented every second of the irrefutable evidence, realizing they were witnessing the downfall of a titan.

Shaya shrieked at the top of her lungs, her voice cracking under the weight of her impending ruin. "Lies! All of it! Those videos are sophisticated forgeries! You are nothing but trash my family tossed out! How could you ever be Aura?"

Kaelen's expression iced over. Even he had not expected Nara to cross this point of no return today. A dark storm brewed in his eyes as he turned to face her.

He asked, his tone freezing the air around them. "Nara, is this destruction truly what you want?"

"I only want what is rightfully mine." Nara replied softly, though the words hollowed out her chest and left her bleeding inside.

Kaelen mocked her, weaponizing the very trauma she had suffered. "What is yours? You wouldn't even be alive if it weren't for me! I gave you your life. Five years ago, you would have died if not for me. You have no right to claim the title of Aura!"

He shoved her aside like trash and rushed to comfort a hyperventilating Shaya.

Shaya pleaded, clinging to his expensive suit as if her life depended on it. "Kaelen, she is lying, right? Tell them she is not Aura!"

"Of course she is not." Kaelen confirmed loud enough for the crowd, his voice leaving no room for hesitation.

The sheer betrayal hit Nara like a bucket of ice water down her spine. It snuffed out the light of the man she had loved for five years. He had been her salvation once in the darkest period of her life. Now, he snuffed that light out himself, choosing to defend the woman who had caused her suffering.

But she knew the silent truth. She had saved his life, too. She had begged the terrifying Night-Physician for his miracle treatment when Kaelen was on the brink of death. She had traded her own dignity to ensure he survived. She owed Kaelen nothing. The debt was settled long ago.

Swallowing the acidic bitterness in her throat, she tapped her bracelet one last time. She played one final, devastating recording captured by the living room Alexa earlier that day.

The entire hall fell into dead, suffocating silence.

"Kaelen, please. Just let me pretend to be Aura for the launch." Shaya’s sweet, shameless voice echoed through the massive speakers, begging with zero restraint.

"Alright. You will be Aura." Kaelen's voice was heard agreeing. Easy. Willing.

Every single word rang crystal clear through the venue's sound system. The truth was bared for everyone to hear.

Shaya’s face drained of all color, turning a sickly white. She stumbled backward, gasping for air as the flashing cameras focused on her panic.

Kaelen froze. His mind short-circuited as the reality of the recording set in. His precious Kardos Global launch was collapsing into dust before his very eyes. The empire he built on the back of the Aura brand was taking a devastating hit.

He spun toward Nara. His eyes burned with terrified rage as he realized she had cornered him with no way out.

"You were spying on me?" Kaelen roared over the noise.
