"Go on, eat. When we're done, I'll take you home," Kaelen said with a playful smile.

Vespera looked up at him and blurted, "Didn't you just say you had something to do?"

Right after she said it, regret washed over her. 'Why did I even say that?' she scolded herself.

'Ugh, did that make it sound like I actually want him to take me home?' she thought, mortified.
