Clean Slate
The wheels hit the runway and damn near launched me out of my seat.
New country.
“We’re here, baby,” Mum said, twisting around to squeeze my knee.
She did that little scan of my face she thought I was too dumb to notice.
She’d been doing it ever since the whole Damian situation, like she was checking if I was still breathing.
“You okay?”
“Yeah.”
And the freaky part was I actually meant it.
