The morning came too fast. I slept kind of late, and my body still wanted to lounge in Daphne’s ridiculously soft guest bed, but my brain refused to power down. Every time I closed my eyes, I saw last night’s horror. The auction stage. The bang of the gavel. Vaughn’s face as he watched me with hawk eyes on the stage. And the six hundred thousand dollars Vaughn tossed into the auction like i
