The drive to the Boreal pack was the longest I had ever experienced, figuratively speaking. Freya was quiet throughout the journey, clearly upset.

“It’s not too late to change your mind,” I suggested, but she remained resolute. “Remember, we agreed to keep our knowledge of Veda’s pregnancy not being mine a secret,” I reminded her.

She looked apologetic before responding, “I know,
