The massive clearing falls dead silent. A heavy, suffocating weight descends over the ceremonial grounds, choking the very air from my lungs. Every wolf present understands exactly what just happened. Blatantly disrespecting the Alpha family during a sacred ceremony is sheer suicide. My severely drunken mother simply does not care.
