Caught In A Stranger’s Bed

POV: Sienna Adler.

"Alpha King Kaelen!" The man’s dramatic exclamation shattered the suffocating tension in the dimly lit hotel suite. He yanked himself away from me as if burned, his naked penis and bare thighs flashing in the dim light before he scrambled across the wide mattress to grab the tangled sheets. He pulled the thick fabric tightly over his exposed body, acting as if he was genuinely shocked by Kaelen’s sudden intrusion into the room.

Kaelen stood blocking the doorway, his massive frame vibrating with a terrifying, primal rage that seemed to suck all the oxygen out of the space. His heavy fists were clenched by his sides so tight that his knuckles shone a stark, bone-white against his skin. His gray eyes, usually so warm, now glowed with the feral, murderous intent of his inner wolf surfacing.

"How could you sleep with my mate, the Luna Queen?" Kaelen roared, the raw power in his voice vibrating through the floorboards and rattling the heavy lamps on the nightstands.

My throat constricted, dry from pure terror. I couldn't swallow over the lump forming in my throat. "No! That's not what happened," I pleaded, my voice cracking under the unbearable weight of his accusation. I took a hesitant step toward him, raising my trembling hands in surrender.

But the stranger on the bed ruthlessly doubled down on his fabricated story. Looking Kaelen dead in the eye, the stranger lied effortlessly, without missing a single beat. "I didn't know she was the Luna Queen of the Crimson Thorn Pack. She told me she was a random Omega looking for a quick encounter. She presented herself to me."

My blood turned to ice in my veins. "He's lying!" I screamed out my innocence, my frantic voice echoing harshly off the suite’s walls. I spun back to face the man huddled under the sheets. "I don't even know you! Why are you doing this? Why are you destroying my life?" I desperately demanded to know his motives, praying Kaelen would see through the deception.

But Kaelen's fury had already solidified into concrete belief. Gritting his teeth, a muscle feathering rapidly in his tight jaw, he ignored my desperate defense. He stepped further into the room, his lethal glare fixed solely on me. "How long?" he demanded, his voice dropping to a deadly, gravelly whisper. "How long have you been sneaking around behind my back to be with this man?"

A violent wave of nausea slammed into my stomach, twisting my guts into tight knots. Hot flashes overwhelmed my body, flushing my skin and cutting my frantic explanations short. I opened my mouth to swear on the Moon Goddess, but before I could articulate another word, Kaelen moved.

He closed the distance between us in a blur of motion. He violently grabbed my wrist, his grip locking around my bones like a steel vise, and aggressively dragged me out of the suite.

He pulled me ruthlessly through the long hotel corridors. Doors cracked open along the hallway. Pack members peeked out, their eyes widening in shock. I was forced to endure the mocking, whispering crowds as they watched their Luna being hauled away like a criminal. Kaelen didn't slow down. He marched me out of the building and shoved me forcefully into the backseat of the waiting car.

The ride back to the mansion was an agonizing, suffocating silence. Beta Rafe sat rigid in the passenger seat, staring straight ahead. Kaelen sat beside me, his chest heaving with silent, terrifying breaths, refusing to look at me. I huddled against the door, trembling from head to toe. I mentally prepared myself. I just needed to show Kaelen the anonymous text messages on my phone to prove I was lured into a trap.

The moment we stepped through the heavy double doors and into the grand foyer of the mansion, Kaelen's suppressed rage exploded. The sheer volume of his anger bounced off the high ceilings.

"Explain it to me!" he yelled, demanding a full explanation for my betrayal. He paced across the floor like a caged predator. "Tell me why I found my mate in a hotel bed with a strange man!"

As I looked at him, my tear-filled eyes locked onto his clothing. He was wearing a dark, tailored coat—the exact same coat I had seen draped near the bedroom entrance at the hotel suite. The fabric, the cut, the silver buttons. It was identical.

The horrifying realization hit me like a physical blow to the ribs. It knocked the wind straight out of my lungs. I hadn't accidentally walked into the wrong room. The coat had been planted there. I was intentionally led there to be framed.

Sobbing uncontrollably, my knees gave out, and I sank to the marble floor. "I received messages from a stranger telling me you were cheating on me," I confessed, my voice thick with tears. I looked up at him, begging for understanding. I admitted that my own vulnerability and his recent coldness had pushed me to the edge. "You were shutting me out. It made me believe the lies."

Kaelen stopped pacing. His chest heaved, and then his booming voice suddenly cracked, replaced by a shattered, agonizing tone that stopped my tears in their tracks.

"Sienna!" he rasped, dragging a heavy hand through his hair. "I was planning for your birthday. I was busy hiring cruise guards and buying an island as a gift for you while you thought I was cheating."

The shock of his words washed over me, draining the blood from my face. My skin turned clammy. A ringing started in my ears. He hadn't been pulling away from me because he found another woman. He had been planning the ultimate surprise. I had been catastrophically wrong.

Desperate to explain the deep manipulation at play, I stammered, pulling myself up from the floor. "Wait! Cleo told me she had seen you with another she-wolf yesterday. That's why I went to that hotel!"

Kaelen immediately countered my claim, shaking his head with bitter disbelief. "Cleo? Cleo knew exactly what I was doing. She knew I was preparing that specific luxury suite for your birthday surprise."

My lungs seized. Cleo knew? Frantic and hyperventilating, the betrayal pierced straight through my heart. "Cleo!" I screamed for her, my voice tearing through the silent mansion. "Cleo!"

Footsteps sounded against the grand staircase. I watched as Cleo slowly descended the steps, her posture relaxed. I confronted her before her foot even hit the foyer floor, my entire body trembling with anger, confusion, and desperation.

"You never told me!" I screamed, stepping into her space. "You said you saw him with someone else!"

Cleo looked at me with a perfectly crafted expression of bewildered innocence. She widened her eyes and tilted her head. "I don't know what you're talking about," she lied smoothly, without a single tremor of guilt in her voice. "Why would I ever tell you something like that?"

I stared at her, driven to the edge of madness. She was denying reality right to my face. I spun away from her, lunging for the breakfast table tucked into the alcove. I snatched up my forgotten phone, desperate to show Kaelen the anonymous texts as my ultimate proof of the setup.

My shaking thumbs unlocked the screen and opened the messaging app. But as the screen loaded, a cold dread coated my skin like frost. I stared at the inbox. The entire conversation thread—every single anonymous message that had lured me to the hotel—had been deleted.

Kaelen watched my frantic scrolling from a few feet away. His shouting was now replaced by a cold, devastating disappointment.

"And let me guess, somebody deleted the conversation as well?" he asked, his voice devoid of any remaining love.

I clutched the phone to my chest, my breathing ragged. "I swear to you, the messages were here! Kaelen, please!" I cried, the desperation clawing at my throat. I turned back to Cleo, tears blurring my vision. I begged my best friend to vouch for my character, to save my life, to tell the truth just this once.

Instead, she drove the final, lethal blade directly into my back.

Cleo stepped forward, looking Kaelen dead in the eye, her expression shifting into one of heavy sorrow. "I can't lie anymore, Sienna," she said softly. "I have to tell him the truth about your involvement with Gamma Vaughn of the Hollow Moon Pack."

My jaw dropped. Gamma Vaughn? I hadn't spoken to him in months. Before I could even process the sheer terror of these new, false claims, both Cleo and Kaelen froze in place.

Their bodies went rigid, their eyes glazing over in unison as they received a sudden mindlink from Rafe. Because of my rare wolf and my inherent inability to use mindlink, I was left in the dark. The silence in the foyer was deafening. I was forced to stand there, isolated and powerless, watching Kaelen's expression morph into a grim, unyielding mask. The last remnants of the man who loved me vanished from his features.

Kaelen blinked, snapping back to the present. He fixed me with a stare so icy it burned.

"The counselors have discovered your betrayal. They're organizing a public trial for you," Kaelen declared coldly. His rigid posture made it abundantly clear he had no intention of standing by my side or rescuing me.

He turned his back on me. He was abandoning me to the wolves.

I turned back to Cleo for one last, desperate plea to the bond of our friendship. I reached out, hoping to appeal to the years we spent together. But she merely stared at me with eyes as cold as ice.

"I'm sorry," Cleo said, her voice dripping with cruel apathy. "You did this to yourself by cheating on him."

As Kaelen walked away and the silence of the foyer swallowed me whole, my knees finally gave out. I hit the marble floor, my entire world shattering into a million irreparable pieces. I hadn't just made a mistake. I had been systematically, flawlessly deceived.
