I did not leave the corridor immediately after the report, and neither did Valerius.

I turned away from Valerius and walked a few steps, giving myself space to think.

“I underestimated her,” I admitted.

Valerius did not respond right away.

“She stayed quiet for too long,” I continued. “I thought she was reacting to Torin, not acting on her own.”
