The Surgery Chamber

"Reverse! Get us out of here!" Roman shouted, his voice cracking with sheer panic.

The chauffeur jammed the Bentley's transmission into reverse, the expensive tires spinning and smoking against the cold asphalt as he desperately tried to maneuver away from the towering figure blocking their path.

Julian’s eyes narrowed into dark, predatory slits. He anticipated the desperate escape move before it even happened. Pivoting on his heel with terrifying aggression, he slid back into the driver’s seat of his massive Rolls-Royce. The engine roared to life like a caged beast. He slammed his shoe down on the accelerator. The heavy luxury vehicle lurched forward, closing the short distance in a fraction of a heartbeat. Metal shrieked into the night as Julian deliberately rammed his massive vehicle directly into the side of the Bentley. The crushing impact lifted the luxury car off the street, forcing its tires up onto the raised concrete pavement with a deafening crunch of bending metal and shattering glass. Roman threw his arms over Nora, taking the brunt of the whiplash as the cabin fiercely shook.

Julian stepped out of his car again, a murderous expression etched onto his flawless face. He stormed toward the crumpled Bentley, raised his heavy shoe, and kicked the bent passenger door open. The hinges groaned and gave way. He reached inside the ruined cabin. His large hands clamped onto Nora’s fragile arms. He dragged her ruthlessly out of the backseat without a shred of hesitation.

"Julian, stop!" Roman choked out, dazed from the crash.

Julian ignored the plea. He shoved Nora hard against the cold exterior of the car. His hand flew up, locking around her pale neck, pinning her flush against the dented metal. The impact forced the breath from her lungs.

"You think you can play games with my son's life?" Julian snarled, his grip tightening. "The only reason you are still drawing breath right now is because Leo needs your bone marrow to survive the night. Do you understand me?"

Nora gasped, her fingers frantically clawing at his iron grip. Black spots danced at the edge of her vision. The agonizing thought of Stella dying on a hospital bed across the city gave her a sudden surge of adrenaline.

"Listen to me!" she rasped, her voice breaking. "Hazel and Stella... the twins at Maplewood Welfare... they are not just my daughters! They are your biological daughters!"

Julian scoffed, his eyes hardening like frost. Past betrayals clouded his judgment, blinding him to her tearful truth.

"If you don't believe my words, do a paternity test! Right now! You can easily prove it!" Nora pleaded, hot tears spilling over her cheeks and splashing onto his knuckles.

"You expect me to believe this pathetic lie?" he sneered, his breath hot against her face. "You fabricated this story to delay the surgery. You want to kill my son. I will not let you manipulate me again."

"No!" Roman shouted, finally staggering out of the ruined Bentley. He wiped a streak of blood from his forehead, stepping forward with bold defiance. "You will have to walk over my dead body to take her tonight, Julian!"

Tires screeched in the distance. Four black tactical vehicles swarmed the intersection, boxing them in. The doors flew open, and a squad of Julian’s heavily armed security men poured out. They moved with brutal precision, swarming Roman in seconds to neutralize the threat. They pinned his arms behind his back, forcing him to his knees on the rough pavement.

Julian turned his head slightly, his grip on Nora unwavering. He sneered at his rival. "Your life means nothing to me, Roman. Interfere in my family business one more time, and I will wipe out the entire Kensington family bloodline."

Nora sobbed, her chest heaving as she struggled for air under his crushing hold. "Julian, I beg you! Let me go to the public hospital first! I just need to save Stella. I will come back for Leo. I swear it!"

Her frantic begging snapped the last frayed thread of his patience. He let go of her neck, only to grab her wrists, pinning them in front of her. He barked a swift order over his shoulder. A guard rushed forward and handed him a roll of thick yellow industrial tape.

Julian ripped a piece off the roll. He slapped it aggressively over Nora's mouth, silencing her screams. She thrashed against him, her muffled cries echoing in the night air. Julian moved with brutal efficiency. He bound her wrists together with multiple layers of the thick tape, then kicked her legs out from under her, catching her before she hit the ground to bind her ankles just as tight.

Treating her like mere cargo, he lifted her struggling form and tossed her ruthlessly into the backseat of the Rolls-Royce.

"Call the hospital," Julian barked his order to his lead security officer. "Tell them to prepare the operating ward immediately. We are five minutes out."

He slammed the rear door shut and jumped into the driver's seat. The tires smoked as he sped recklessly back toward the Crawford private hospital.

The wheels of the gurney rattled over the smooth tile floors of the Crawford medical facility. Medical staff swarmed the hallway. The moment Julian’s car arrived, orderlies dragged the restrained Nora out. She was swiftly wheeled directly into the sterile preparation room. Her limbs remained firmly bound by the yellow tape. The nurses exchanged fearful glances but dared not intervene to cut her loose.

Once prepped, she was rolled into the freezing cold operating room. Bright, sterile lights glared down from the ceiling. Across the wide room, young Leo lay unconscious on an adjacent operating bed. His small chest rose and fell in a rhythmic motion under the heavy dose of general anesthesia. Blinking monitors surrounded his tiny form, tracking his fragile heartbeat.

The automated doors slid open. Julian stepped into the cold room, clad head-to-toe in sterile blue surgical gear.

Nora thrashed wildly on her own heavy metal bed. Her bound wrists scraped against the rails, causing the metal to clatter loudly in the quiet room. Her tear-streaked eyes locked onto Julian, screaming silent prayers.

Julian approached her bed. He reached down, his gloved fingers catching the edge of the yellow tape covering her mouth. He forcefully tore the harsh tape off in one swift motion. The adhesive took a layer of sensitive skin with it.

Given her voice back, Nora screamed in pure agony. The sound bounced off the sterile tiles.

"Julian! Stella is just a child!" she cried out, her throat raw. "What has she done wrong?"

Julian's jaw locked. He reached out and grabbed her firmly by the chin. He leaned in so close she could see the endless void in his dark eyes.

"She is your daughter," he murmured, his voice chilling and merciless. "That is an original sin she carries."

The cruelty of his words struck her like a physical blow, but Nora stubbornly persisted. She wept uncontrollably, the tears soaking her hair. "She has acute leukemia! She will die without immediate surgery tonight! I swear on my life, Julian, she is your true flesh and blood!"

She strained against her bindings, her chest rising and falling in rapid, shallow breaths. "Please. Just let me donate to her first! Let me save her, and I promise I will return and donate my marrow to Leo right after. Julian, trust me!"

Instead of listening, Julian’s hand moved from her chin. His long fingers wrapped around her fragile neck to choke her back into silence.

"How does the illegitimate bastard you gave birth to ever deserve to be compared to my precious son?" he spat venomously. "If you utter another word of this nonsense, I will be compelled to hunt down those bastards and kill them myself."

Nora’s eyes widened in sheer terror. Her mouth opened, but no sound came out under his crushing grip. He was sick to death of her desperate, manipulative lies. He grabbed another piece of medical tape from a nearby tray and aggressively slapped it over her mouth, sealing her lips shut once again.

"Tie her limbs down," Julian barked a cold order at the nervous nurses. "Use the heavy leather straps."

The nurses scurried forward, their hands shaking as they followed his dark commands. They secured thick leather restraints over her arms and legs, physically tying her flush against the surgical table.

A terrified anesthesiologist approached the bed. He held a large needle filled with thick anesthetic, his hands trembling under Julian's dark gaze. He reached for Nora's IV line to put her under.

Julian intercepted the doctor’s hand.

"Give it to me," Julian commanded smoothly.

The doctor immediately relinquished the heavy syringe and stepped back into the shadows.

Nora writhed in sheer physical and emotional agony against the heavy leather restraints. The straps dug deep into her wrists, bruising her skin. Her bloodshot, tear-filled eyes stared up at him. She was suffocating under the weight of her devastating maternal helplessness. Her eyes silently screamed a final, devastating plea for her dying daughter waiting across the city.

Grabbing her fragile neck to hold her head perfectly still against the mattress, Julian forced her to meet his cold, unfeeling gaze.

"Nora Sterling, it is your supreme blessing to be able to save my son," he said with chilling cruelty.

With a steady hand, he mercilessly pushed the heavy syringe of thick anesthetic deep into her IV line. The milky fluid flooded her veins. He watched the panic in her eyes slowly cloud over, watching her fade without a single trace of emotion on his flawless face.
