I don’t sleep. I know I should. My whole body feels like it’s been dragged through hell and dumped back here, but I can’t close my eyes. Every time I do, I see her back in the snow, alone, running barefoot. So I sit right here next to her bed and just watch her breathe. Slow, steady, and real.
