FIGHT!

POV Kael

Stepping out of the heavy metal elevator and into the pit, the suffocating humid Louisiana heat wrapped around my skin, carrying the raw stench of dry dirt, sweat, and impending bloodshed. I bypassed the lower levels and took my designated place of authority on the shaded, elevated platform. The thick, cream-colored canopy flapped overhead in the heavy breeze, offering a slight reprieve from the blistering sun. Below me, the rowdy crowd buzzed with chaotic energy. Feral anticipation rippled through the packed bleachers.

I grabbed the microphone from the table, projecting my voice to firmly address the sea of fighters and spectators. The restless chatter died down instantly.

"Welcome to the Abyss Wolf Clan’s Fighter’s Championship," I announced, letting my Alpha aura roll over the crowd to ensure submission. "I, Alpha ‘Bloodvoid’ Kael, will make this worthwhile. To the victor, a permanent position in my Elite Warrior Army."

A murmur of greedy excitement washed over the masses.

"Ten of my top warriors are entered in this bracket. Do not take them lightly, for they are trained to kill or be killed. This is a strict ‘no mercy’ fight unless I personally see fit to end it. For all side betting, a five percent house cut is required. If anyone has a problem with that, leave now. If not, let us get this underway."

I lingered at the edge of the platform, surveying the layout. My gaze swept over the staging tents, the trainers, and the eager challengers. Vulkan strutted past the platform down below, his chest puffed out with unearned arrogance. He wore a smug smirk, looking as though he had already claimed the championship title.

But my attention didn't stay on him for more than a second. It was instantly stolen by the breathtaking beauty trailing closely behind his massive frame.

She walked barefoot across the hot, dusty ground. Her striking face was a blank slate, devoid of any discernible emotion, yet she radiated an aura of pure, unadulterated bloodlust. A sleek, ebony high ponytail swayed with her precise, predatory strides. Black spandex shorts gripped her curves, highlighting long, lean legs, while a fitted tank top showcased taut, flexing back muscles.

*Fuck. She is a Goddess,* my inner wolf, Varg, roared in sheer appreciation, pacing within my mind.

A low chuckle rumbled in my chest. *That must be the fighter Vaughn mentioned.*

Varg pressed forward, eager to catch her specific scent, sniffing the thick bayou air. But a wave of profound confusion hit us both.

*There is something about her... I cannot smell her at all,* Varg grunted, pacing faster.

*Nothing?* I focused my own heightened senses, sifting through the stench of cheap beer and swamp mud. Nothing. Not a single trace of her scent existed. It was as if she were a ghost. *Maybe it is just masked by the surrounding crowd. Let us see what she can do.*

I turned and settled into my large leather seat beside Vaughn. Corbin was already waiting, handing me a crystal glass of aged whiskey.

Vaughn flashed an evil smirk, leaning forward. "You saw her?" He nodded toward the staging tents.

"I did," I replied, swirling the amber liquid in my glass. "She doesn't look much stronger than the usual challengers, but we will see."

"She is number four in the lineup," Vaughn said, leaning back and crossing his arms with a grin that promised violence.

The heavy clanking of chains signaled the raising of the arena doors. The preliminary bloodbath commenced. I sat back, sipping my whiskey, watching the first three matches unfold. It was a disappointment. The first three challengers barked far more than they bit, and my elite, trained warriors dismantled them with brutal efficiency. The crowd cheered and booed in waves of adrenaline-fueled chaos, but the fights ended almost as quickly as they began.

Then came the anticipated fourth match.

The chains rattled once more. Maddock, my fourth-ranked warrior, stepped into the dusty arena. Maddock was a mountain of solid muscle, but his true danger lay in his lethal speed. He was a known silent assassin. If I ever needed a threat eliminated quietly, Maddock was the blade I used. I almost felt a twinge of pity that he was paired against the scentless female, but this was the perfect opportunity to test her limits.

Maddock shot a respectful nod toward our platform. I returned it. He took his position on the right side of the ring.

Excited whispers instantly ignited throughout the crowd as the female stalked into the arena. She moved gracefully, like a lethal predator, her bare feet kicking up small clouds of dust. Her expression remained flawlessly emotionless. Small beads of sweat shimmered on her skin under the setting sun. She rolled her neck, flexed her long fingers, balled her hands into fists, and relaxed them.

*She looks like a trained killer,* Varg laughed darkly in my head. I silently agreed.

The heavy tension in the air was thick enough to cut with a blade. It shattered the exact moment Vaughn grabbed the microphone from the table.

"FIGHT!" Vaughn boomed, the sudden noise echoing like thunder.

Maddock didn't hesitate. He moved with blinding speed, closing the distance and striking first. He slammed his heavy fist directly into her side, a blow meant to crack ribs and end the bout early.

Shockingly, she didn't even flinch. The bone-rattling impact didn't phase her.

She countered instantly. Grabbing the back of his head with both hands, she pulled him down while simultaneously smashing her knee upward with devastating force right into his jaw. The brutal strike echoed through the silent arena, dropping the massive warrior down to one knee.

Maddock quickly recovered, his eyes flaring with anger. He lunged, grabbing her leg and aggressively dragging her down to the dirt ground. He pinned her, raining down rapid-fire punches aimed at her ribs and face.

She didn't panic. She expertly blocked every single strike, her arms moving in precise, defensive arcs. She caught his right fist, holding it still, and when he threw his left, she caught that one too.

Pinned beneath a heavy assassin, she simply flashed a deeply sinister, knowing smile.

Before Maddock could react, she surged forward, crushing his nose with a vicious, perfectly aimed head-butt. Bone crunched loudly. Blood gushed instantly, streaming freely down his chin and dripping onto her chest. A second head-butt sent Maddock staggering backward, giving her the space to shove him off with her feet and spring back up.

"Damn! She is tough," Vaughn laughed brightly from beside me, his eyes glued to the ring.

I nodded, my grip tightening on my glass. I couldn't take my eyes off her fluid movements.

Maddock growled in pure frustration, the sound vibrating with raw humiliation. He wiped the blood from his mouth and extended his razor-sharp claws, deciding to escalate the violence.

She didn't back down. Taking two calculated steps back, she let out a dark, amused laugh.

"Come on Brute Guy, show me what you got."

Fearlessly, she extended her own deadly claws, the sharp sound of bone slicing through skin echoing over the dirt. She cracked her neck, preparing for the lethal exchange.

That was the exact moment she looked up, and her eyes suddenly flashed a brilliant, blinding color.

*Silver eyes!* Varg yelled frantically in my mind, the realization hitting us like a freight train. *It couldn't be. It was just a dream.*

My breath hitched. A strange knot tightened in my chest. For weeks, piercing silver eyes had haunted my restless sleep, eyes attached to a shadow I couldn't catch. And now, they were right in front of me, glaring through the Louisiana dirt.

But she was terrifyingly real, and she was terrifyingly fast.

Maddock released a low, grumbling growl and slashed at her chest. She side-stepped, but his claws caught her arm, leaving deep marks that seeped dark blood. The pain didn't slow her down. She swung her hand upward, catching his chin, and before he could regain his balance, she slashed her other hand across his upper thighs.

Maddock retaliated with a brutal forward kick to her chest, knocking her backward. She skidded through the dirt but stopped mid-slide, her nails spinning around as she sprinted straight at him with impossible speed.

*Fuck. She is fast.*

She unleashed a relentless flurry of slash after slash, driving the silent assassin back toward the edge of the ring. Maddock couldn't find an opening. Jumping high into the air with impossible agility, she tightly wrapped her strong legs directly around his thick neck. At the same moment, she plunged her sharp nails incredibly deep into his exposed ribs.

Maddock hissed out in pure agony. Dark red blood rapidly pooled on his tan skin, painting it crimson as she relentlessly tightened her leg grip. She was cutting off his airflow, locking his head in place, clearly preparing to snap his neck and end his life right there in the dirt.

Maddock was undeniably one of my best fighters. I couldn't afford to lose him to this spectacle, no matter how much I enjoyed her lethal grace.

"Kael, should we stop her?" Vaughn leaned over, an amused eyebrow raised.

"Maddock is one of our best assassins," I chuckled darkly, standing up and stepping to the edge of the platform. I pulled in a deep breath, letting the sheer weight of my authority fill my chest.

"ENOUGH!" I roared at the top of my lungs.

My commanding Alpha voice boomed heavily through the suddenly shocked and silent arena. The crowd immediately lowered their heads, submitting to the command.

She paused her lethal assault immediately. Still locked around Maddock's neck, she turned her head to look at me, smiling evilly down at the struggling assassin as he dropped heavily to his knees, gasping for air. She gracefully uncoiled her legs and dropped back down to the dirt, staring down at him.

Maddock remained on his hands and knees, blood pouring down his face and sides. He let out a breathless, painful laugh.

"You are one tough Bitch," Maddock whispered painfully through his ruined nose.

In response, she delivered a lightning-fast, iron backhand directly to his bruised face. Maddock fell flat into the dirt, panting heavily, yet he still managed to flash her a bloody, deeply approving smile of warrior respect.

"He approves of her," Corbin snickered behind me.

Carefully hiding my own intense amusement behind a stern, unreadable Alpha expression, I leaned forward over the railing and demanded, "What is your name, fighter?"

She stood tall, panting slightly to calm her breathing. Her flashing, ethereal silver eyes slowly settled back into a piercing grayish-blue hue with green flecks.

"VANYA!" she declared boldly. Her gaze didn't drop. Instead, she openly and fearlessly sized up my entire inner circle sitting on the platform, meeting my stare head-on.

*Vanya. I like it. I like her,* Varg purred, flashing a weird toothy grin in the shadows of my mind.

"Very well," I commended her with genuine respect, my timbered voice carrying across the dirt ring. "I explicitly stopped you from killing one of my Elites. Be proud of yourself."

I expected a nod. A bow. Acknowledgment. Instead, completely dismissing us and the gravity of the situation, she sharply turned on her heel, threw her hand up in a dismissive wave, and walked away without casting a single backward glance.

As she exited the ring, every single one of the remaining elite warriors standing along the fence line formally bowed their heads in silent, profound respect as she passed them. She disappeared into the staging tents, leaving a trail of stunned silence in her wake.

I slowly sank back into my chair, my blood humming with a deeply predatory, possessive intrigue.

"Vaughn, go immediately invite her to have dinner with us tonight," I ordered smoothly, swirling the amber whiskey in my glass as I stared at the empty tent entrance. "Make absolute sure she is well taken care of. Have one of the female fighters accompany her."

"As you wish, brother," Vaughn smirked evilly, offering a mocking servant bow before springing up and jogging through the crowd to track her down.

Corbin leaned over his chair, studying my face. "She didn't look like she wanted to stop, Kael. But she held back her final killing blow before you even yelled."

I grinned wide in sheer, predatory excitement. "Did you not see the way her body tensed? Vulkan has indeed brought a genuinely formidable, unmatched fighter to my arena. One I am willing to keep."

I took a slow swig of my drink. As the remaining fights of the day blurred on before my eyes, the blood, the bone-crushing hits, and the roars of the crowd faded into white noise. My mind remained fixated on Vanya's stunning, emotionless face, her blinding speed, and those silver eyes.

What secrets are you hiding?
