Parade of Shame

Lyra huddled in the damp, lightless corner of her cell, the cold of the stone floor seeping through her tattered clothes and deep into her marrow. Every breath felt heavy, thick with the stench of mildew and her own mounting dread. Her fingers, raw and trembling, traced the jagged cracks in the wall, a mindless attempt to anchor herself to a reality that was rapidly dissolving into a nightmare. She was the Luna of the Argent Edge Pack—or she had been, until Alaric’s cold rejection and Selene’s calculated poison had stripped everything from her.

The silence of the dungeon was shattered by the rhythmic, heavy thud of boots on stone. Lyra’s heart hammered against her ribs like a trapped bird. She scrambled toward the iron bars, her knuckles white as she gripped the rusted metal.

"You’re here!" she gasped, her voice cracking. "Please, tell me. When are the Sterlings coming? When are my parents getting me out of this place?"

The jailer, a massive man with a face scarred by years of brutality, didn't stop until he was inches from the bars. He didn't offer a hand or a word of comfort. Instead, he threw his head back and barked a laugh that echoed off the low ceiling like a death knell.

"Get you out?" He sneered, his eyes narrow and glinting with a cruel, mocking light. "You’re delusional, girl. The Sterling name doesn’t belong to you anymore. When they heard about your little 'affair' with Soren, they didn’t just distance themselves—they wiped you from their history. They’ve officially disowned you."

Lyra felt the air leave her lungs as if she’d been punched. "No... that’s not possible. I’m their only daughter. They love me."

"Love you?" The jailer spat on the floor near her feet. "They’ve already found a replacement. Selene is the one living in your old room now. They’ve adopted her as their own daughter. The most esteemed woman in the pack, the future Luna... that’s who they want. You? You’re just a stain they’re scrubbing away."

"No!" Lyra screamed, the sound tearing from her throat. "They wouldn’t! Selene is the one who did this! She’s the enemy! My parents... they have to know!"

"They know you’re a slutty whore who betrayed your Alpha," the jailer barked, his voice rising to drown hers out. "Alpha Alaric has rejected you, and your own blood has discarded you like trash. Selene is the love of the Alpha’s life, and now she’s the pride of the Sterlings. You are nothing."

Lyra’s knees gave out. She collapsed onto the cold floor, her vision swimming in a sea of black spots. The betrayal felt like a physical weight, crushing her chest until she could barely draw a shallow, sobbing breath. Her parents, the people who had raised her in luxury, who had promised to protect her, had handed her life over to the woman who was systematically destroying her.

"And I’m not done with the news," the jailer continued, his voice dropping into a low, predatory rumble. "Alpha Alaric has decided on your final destination. He’s sending you to the rogues as their whore. Three days in their camp, and you’ll be begging for a man to be on top of you just to stay warm. Those wildlings don't care about Luna titles. They just care about how many holes you’ve got."

He burst into another fit of laughter, the sound jagged and ugly. Lyra’s mind fractured. The rogues were the lowest of the low—outlaws, criminals, and beasts who had abandoned the laws of the packs. To be sent to them was a fate worse than death. It was a sentence of endless, brutal violation.

How could Alaric do this? Memories of their childhood flickered through her mind, agonizingly bright against the darkness. She remembered the silver moonlight in the rose garden, the way he used to hold her hand and look back to make sure she didn’t trip. He had been her protector, her first love, her everything. But since Selene arrived, every memory had been tainted. Every kindness Alaric had once shown her had been replaced by a frost that never thawed.

"It’s a waste, really," the jailer muttered, his eyes raking over her body with a new, terrifying intensity. He fumbled with the heavy ring of keys at his belt and unlocked the cell door.

Lyra looked up, a tiny, pathetic flicker of hope igniting in her chest. "Are you... are you letting me go?"

"Let you go? And lose my head?" The jailer stepped into the cell, the smell of stale sweat and cheap ale hitting her like a wall. "No. But I was thinking... if you’re headed to the rogues anyway, why should they get all the fun? You’re a horny little bitch, aren't you? Seduced your own guard, according to the rumors. I bet you’re dying for a real man’s touch after being locked up in this hole."

Lyra scrambled backward, her heels scraping against the stone. "Don't come near me! I am your Luna—"

"You *were* the Luna!" he roared, lunging forward. He grabbed her by the hair, yanking her head back so sharply she cried out in pain. He threw her down, pinning her against the floor with the weight of his massive body. "Now you’re just a hole for the pack to use. Separate your fucking legs for me, slut!"

Lyra fought, clawing at his arms, but he was too heavy, too strong. He slapped her across the face, the force of it making her ears ring.

"You’re a real beauty, Lyra," he hissed, his breath hot against her ear as he tore at the front of her shirt. "Even prettier than Miss Selene. It’s a damn shame to send you to those savages without me getting a taste first."

He reached into his trousers and pulled out his penis. It was thick, veiny, and fully erect, throbbed with a dark, violent intent. He shoved her skirts up, his rough fingers bruising her thighs. Lyra screamed, a raw, primal sound of terror, as he moved his hand to her chest, squeezing her breast so hard she felt the skin begin to tear.

"Shut up!" he growled, fumbling to position himself. "You know you want this big hard dick. You’ve been begging for it since you got here, you shameless whore!"

He pushed his crotch against her, the head of his penis rubbing against her entrance, ready to force his way inside. Lyra squeezed her eyes shut, sobbing, her body racking with tremors as she waited for the final violation.

"What the hell is going on in here?"

The voice from the hallway was sharp and authoritative. The jailer froze, his body jerking with a start. He looked over his shoulder, his face turning a sickly shade of gray as he saw the officer standing at the cell door.

The officer’s eyes traveled over the scene—the jailer’s exposed cock, Lyra’s torn clothes, and the bruises already forming on her skin. He didn't look horrified; he looked annoyed.

"I heard a woman screaming," the officer said, his voice flat. "Is there a problem?"

The jailer scrambled off Lyra, frantically tucking himself back into his pants and fumbling with his belt. "Sir... I... she was making a fuss. I was just teaching her a lesson in discipline."

The officer looked at Lyra, who was curled into a ball, trying to pull the remnants of her shirt over her chest. He showed no pity, no empathy. "Enough. Stop wasting time. Go and prepare for the public parade. This woman is being handed over to the rogues tomorrow morning, and Miss Selene has requested a formal exit."

Lyra’s breath hitched. *A parade?*

"Miss Selene wants her paraded through the streets on her way to the border," the officer continued. "She wants the commoners to see exactly what happens to a traitor who betrays our Alpha. We have a lot of arrangements to make. Move!"

The jailer spat one last time at Lyra, a look of pure venom on his face, before scurrying out of the cell. The officer lingered for a second, his gaze cold. "Try to look your best, traitor. You’ve got a big audience waiting."

He slammed the cell door shut and locked it, leaving Lyra alone in the suffocating darkness.

She sat up slowly, her fingers trembling as she tried to fix her clothes. The silence of the cell was now filled with the sound of her own quiet, broken sobs. A public parade. Selene wasn’t just taking her title and her family; she wanted to strip away the last shred of her dignity. She wanted the people Lyra had loved and protected to be the ones to tear her apart.

The night felt like an eternity. Lyra didn't sleep; she sat with her back against the wall, watching the faint sliver of moonlight move across the floor until it faded into the gray light of dawn.

When the guards came for her, they weren't gentle. They dragged her out of the cell and into the courtyard, where a rickety prison cart was waiting. Her hands were pulled behind her back and bound tightly with rough hemp rope, the fibers biting into her wrists. They tied her to the wooden frame of the cart, forcing her to stand upright so she would be visible to everyone.

As the cart creaked out of the prison gates and into the town square, the noise hit her like a physical blow.

The streets were lined with people—hundreds of them. These were the families she had visited, the children she had brought gifts to, the elders she had cared for. Now, their faces were distorted by a collective, frenzied rage.

"Traitor!" someone screamed.

"Shameless whore! Look at her!"

"Hope the rogues ride you to death!"

The air was suddenly filled with projectiles. A rotten egg struck Lyra squarely in the forehead, the sulfurous, yellow yolk running down her face and into her eyes. It stung, but she couldn't reach up to wipe it away.

"I didn't do it!" Lyra cried out, her voice lost in the cacophony of insults. "I didn't betray the Alpha! It was Selene! She framed me! Please—trust me!"

A stone caught her on the cheek, drawing blood. Another hit her shoulder. The crowd surged forward, their hands reaching out to claw at her clothes, their spit landing on her skin. The hatred was a living thing, a suffocating wave that threatened to drown her.

She looked up, searching for any sign of mercy, and her gaze locked onto a balcony overlooking the square.

Alaric was there. He stood tall, his expression an impenetrable mask of ice. Clinging to his arm was Selene, dressed in a gown of shimmering silk that probably cost more than most of the people in the square earned in a year. Selene wasn't hiding her triumph. She leaned into Alaric, a smug, cruel smile playing on her lips as she watched Lyra being pelted with filth.

"Alaric!" Lyra screamed, her heart breaking all over again. "Alaric, look at me! Tell them the truth!"

Alaric didn't flinch. He didn't even acknowledge the sound of her voice. He looked at her as if she were a piece of rotting meat being cleared from the street. After a moment, he turned his back on her, leading Selene back into the warmth of the packhouse.

The cart continued its slow, agonizing crawl through the territory. By the time they reached the outer outskirts, Lyra was a broken shell. Her hair was matted with filth and blood, her clothes were in ribbons, and her body was a map of bruises and cuts. The jeering crowd eventually thinned out, replaced by the oppressive silence of the forest that marked the edge of the pack’s borders.

The guards stopped the cart at the very edge of the neutral zone, where the trees grew thick and the light struggled to penetrate the canopy. They untied her from the cart but left her hands bound.

"This is as far as we go," one of the soldiers said, his voice devoid of emotion. "The rogues should be along shortly. They’ve been waiting for their delivery."

Without another word, they turned the cart around and galloped back toward the safety of the pack, leaving Lyra standing alone in the dirt.

The silence of the woods was eerie, broken only by the rustle of leaves in the wind. Lyra stood there, shivering, her eyes darting around the shadows. She felt the weight of a dozen different gazes before she saw a single person.

A sharp, piercing whistle cut through the air.

From behind the gnarled trunks of the ancient trees, figures began to emerge. They didn't walk like civilized men; they moved with a predatory grace, their clothes ragged and stained, their eyes glowing with a primal, beastly hunger.

One by one, they stepped into the clearing. Ten. Twenty. Thirty.

Lyra’s breath hitched in her throat as she counted them. There were nearly fifty of them, a sea of filth and violence circling her like a pack of wolves closing in on a wounded deer.

"Well, look at what the Alpha sent us," one of them said, stepping forward. He was a massive man with matted hair and a jagged scar running across his throat. He grinned, revealing yellowed, broken teeth. "The Luna herself. She’s even prettier up close, despite the egg on her face."

"She’s hot," another one called out, his eyes traveling over her exposed skin with a sickening intensity. "The Alpha must be a fool to give this up. Or maybe he just knows how much fun fifty of us can have with one little princess."

Lyra backed away, but there was nowhere to go. The rogues had formed a tight circle around her, their presence a wall of heat and malice.

"Please," she whispered, her voice trembling. "Please, don't..."

The leader of the group cackled, a sound that made the hair on the back of Lyra’s neck stand up. "Don't? Sweetheart, we’ve been waiting a week for this. We made a deal. You’re our payment. And we intend to collect every single cent."

He reached out, his dirty hand grabbing her chin and forcing her to look at him. "You’re not a Luna out here. You’re just a prize. And by the time we’re done with you, you won't even remember your own name."

The rogues began to close the gap, their laughter echoing through the trees. Lyra looked around at the fifty pairs of hungry eyes, the terror rising in her throat until it felt like she was choking. She was at the bottom. She was discarded, disgraced, and now, she was prey.

As the first rogue reached for the waistband of his pants, Lyra’s mind screamed. She had no pack, no mate, and no family. She was surrounded by fifty starving monsters, and the only thing she had left was her life.

She looked at the leader, her fear sharpening into something cold and desperate. How was she supposed to survive this? How was she supposed to fight back against fifty men who saw her as nothing more than a toy?

The silence of the forest was gone, replaced by the sound of fifty men preparing to tear her apart.
