Cruel Spectacle

I didn't want to attend this event, feeling out of place among strangers and feeling the awkward tension in the air. Yet, here I was, reluctantly standing in the crowded hall. Every turn I took, I was faced with the sight of Beckett, effortlessly charming, arm in arm with his childhood sweetheart, their laughter echoing through the room and making my feelings of exclusion even sharper.
