“It’s not because of Annelise,” I said firmly, annoyed that she would even make that suggestion. Like I needed more reasons to not want to marry Giselle than the obvious. “It is because of Valerie, and what you had done to her.”

In the back of my mind, I thought that, if Annelise really was Valerie, than perhaps it was about Annelise after all. But I would be damned before I said that
