That evening, Bryce and his parents left to go to one of the events the night before the Alpha Ball. Bryce had been worried about leaving me, but I promised him I was just going to watch some television and go to bed. Finally, he agreed, but only with Nyssa agreeing to watch the doors, and another bodyguard hanging out in one of the spare rooms, ready to come save me if I screamed.
