I pushed the horse harder than I should have through the final mountain pass.

The animal’s sides heaved its breathing coming in heavy bursts, but I kept my hands loose around the reins and pushed it forward.

One day. That was all that separated me from Talia.

One more day, and I would see her again, and the curse already felt like it was chewing through the last of my control.
