Just Desserts
Hadley's POV.
I stared at the glowing phone screen in the pitch-black silence of my bedroom, letting the icy grip of betrayal wash over me. A drunk Snapchat video had leaked online. Within a few short hours, it had been reshared thousands of times across the school. The chaotic footage showed my supposedly loyal boyfriend in a dark room with his pants down. Trevor was loudly moaning over another girl. To make the betrayal even more sickening, he was wearing the exact zip-up hoodie I had thoughtfully bought him for his birthday.
I didn't break down. I didn't cry. I didn't even scream. Instead, a deeply satisfying rush of cold calm flooded my veins. I simply blocked his number, tossed my phone onto the mattress, and began plotting my revenge.
For weeks, I had not spoken a single word to Maddox. I remained livid after the stunt he pulled at Tate’s party. He had stormed in like a self-appointed morality police officer, throwing his heavy jacket over me and dragging me out of that bedroom like a misbehaving child. In retaliation, I ignored his existence. Meanwhile, Trevor and I maintained our cute, seemingly perfect dates, although strangely, our physical relationship never progressed any further than it had that night. Now, looking at the video, I knew exactly why.
The next morning, I stood outside Trevor's house holding a white pastry box, fueled by pure, petty rage. Parked directly behind me was Nadia. She sat in the passenger seat of her car with her phone out, recording everything, ready to capture the show.
Trevor stepped out of his front door carrying a duffel bag over his shoulder. He was preparing to head to the airport for his college departure to Canada. There would be no emotional closure today. There would be no romantic goodbye kiss. Just perfect timing.
His face shifted to panic the moment he saw me standing on the pavement. He froze in his tracks.
He stammered out the weak apologies, dropping his bag like a deer caught in headlights. "Babe, Hadley, I am so sorry. I didn't mean to do it. It was just a mistake."
I cut him off flatly, raising a single unimpressed eyebrow. "I figured you would use the mistake excuse."
Without another word, I offered him the white pastry box. Believing it was a peace offering, Trevor took it and cracked the lid open. Nestled inside sat a two-layer, anatomically accurate cake shaped exactly like a dick, coated in colorful sprinkles.
Trevor blinked in sheer confusion, staring down at the baked goods.
"What the fu—"
I lunged forward and forcefully slammed the entire cake directly into his face. Thick, colorful frosting smeared over his cheeks and nose while sprinkles flew through the air like breakup confetti.
I offered a sweet, sarcastic smile as I dusted off my hands. "Bon voyage, douchebag."
I turned and strutted back to Nadia’s car. The second I climbed inside, Nadia let out an ecstatic, deafening scream.
"That execution was epic!"
I flashed a wicked grin. "I aim to please."
Nadia hit the gas. We peeled off down the street, leaving Trevor standing on his driveway looking like the stunned, frosted clown he truly was. I leaned against the seat, feeling an incredible rush of satisfaction. The triumphant high faded into a striking realization. Maddox had actually saved me from losing my virginity to a massive cheating jerk. I may have hated Maddox Hayes for as long as I could remember, but right now, I hated Trevor a whole lot more. My hatred for Maddox was momentarily eclipsed. I owed my frustrating neighbor a massive apology.
