I spend the first day trying to escape. The bedroom door is locked. I bang on it until my fists hurt.

No one comes.

The window is shut off. Not with obvious prison bars....these are decorative iron scrollwork, beautiful and delicate-looking. But when I pull on them, they don't budge.

I'm three stories up. Even if I could break the glass, I would die jumping.
