A few days later, nothing exploded. Which somehow made everything feel more fragile.

Kellan dropped me off in front of the building like he usually did. The morning sun reflected off the glass exterior, making the entire structure gleam like something polished and untouchable.

He shifted the car into park and turned toward me.

“You good?” he asked softly.

“I’m always good,” I replied.
