My voice came out hoarse, strained. "Cora…”

That broke the spell. Her eyes snapped up to mine, reality crashing back.

"Oh my God. I'm so sorry. I didn't know you were... I should've... I'm sorry.”

She used both hands to cover her eyes like a naïve girl who’d just witnessed something shocking and didn’t know where to look.

I grasped her arm and hauled her up
