None of them expected to find anyone else in the cave. They thought that there were the only ones down there.

Ryker was a little unprepared for the guard with the gun, but Kael wasn't. He saw the guard raise his rifle, and Kael was right in front of him the next second. Kael deftly put one finger right in the trigger hole to stop the man from pulling it.

The gun never went off.
