Shattered Silence

I sat in the corner of my room, back pressed against the cold wall, knees up to my chest. My phone was on the floor beside me, facedown. Screen off. All notifications were on silent.

Everything was quiet now.

The world outside still moved. Cars drove past the house. Someone was mowing their lawn. Kids rode bikes and screamed like nothing ever happened. But inside me, everything was s
