The air in the hospital room felt heavy, and Alaric tried to shift Callista's attention.

"Do you want some more water?" he asked.

Callista felt a little awkward but went along with it and nodded. "Sure, thanks."

Alaric got up to get her some water, and right at that moment, Isadora stepped out of the little kitchen.

She had a freshly washed bowl and spoon in hand and headed over to ladle out some
