Her Mysterious Brother

Gideon's booming voice shattered the tension. He loomed like an immovable mountain of flesh, effortlessly cutting off the two dagger-wielding delinquents. "You bastards! How dare you harass my master's sister?"

The boys slammed to a halt. Panic widened their eyes as they stared up at the towering giant blocking their path. Desperation kicked in, and the leader pointed his blade with a trembling hand, foolishly attempting to invoke the name of a local boss. "Get out of our way! We work for Trenton Adler! If you mess with us, you are a dead man!"

Gideon smirked at their ignorance. "Oh, you are his subordinates. Let us have a little chat over there."

He shot his massive hands forward. Before the teenage boys could even blink or swing their weapons, Gideon gripped them both by their scrawny necks. He lifted them off the ground with terrifying ease, their legs kicking uselessly in the air. Using sheer brute force, he dragged the thrashing boys away from the screaming crowd and threw them into a dark, secluded alleyway beside the school.

A nearby security guard caught a glimpse of the struggle. Recognizing the school's notorious troublemakers, the guard simply shook his head and turned his face away, wanting no part of this mess.

Meanwhile, outside the school's bustling iron gates, Kaelen focused on the slender figure trapped in the sea of students. He needed to get her attention before her friend dragged her further away. "Sienna!"

Hearing that deep, familiar voice she had not heard in six long years, Sienna froze in her tracks. She wrenched her hand away from a bewildered Tessa. Her heart hammered wildly against her ribs.

Sienna spun around. Her eyes locked onto the handsome, imposing man standing amidst the crowd. Known throughout Ravenscroft Senior High for her icy demeanor and for strictly keeping all men at a distance, she did something that shocked the male onlookers to their core.

She sprinted forward, abandoning every ounce of her usual reserve, and carelessly flung herself into Kaelen's embrace.

Gasps echoed around the school gates. The majority of the male students felt their hearts shatter into a million pieces. Sienna and Tessa were the undisputed beauties of Ravenscroft. Every boy knew Sienna kept men at arm's length. Seeing her throw herself into the arms of a mysterious young man was a devastating blow to their egos.

Kaelen gently patted her trembling back, his eyes softening. "There, there. You are a big girl now. Do not cry."

Sienna pulled back slightly, wiping her reddened eyes, though a brilliant smile graced her face. "I am not crying at all!"

Tessa approached them with her jaw practically hitting the pavement. She stared at Sienna as if she had grown a second head. "My goodness! Sienna, are you still the shy, icy girl I knew?"

Kaelen arched an eyebrow, assessing the completely stunned girl. "Sienna, is this your classmate?"

Sienna nodded obediently, her usual coldness melting away in her brother's presence. "Yes. This is Tessa."

Kaelen smiled warmly, ignoring the lingering stares of the crowd. "Let us go. I will walk you home to Oak Lane."

Sienna grabbed Kaelen's arm and waved goodbye to her friend. "Tessa, I will see you tomorrow!"

Back in the shadowy alleyway, the two delinquents hit the dirty pavement hard. They scrambled backward, their daggers forgotten, but their escape route was entirely blocked by Gideon's massive frame.

Gideon pulled his arm back and let his massive fist slam into the solid brick wall right next to the delinquents' heads.

A deafening crack echoed through the narrow space. Dust rained down on the boys' pale faces. They stared in pure horror at the terrifying, crater-like dent Gideon had just left in the solid stone. If that fist had connected with their skulls, their brains would be painted across the pavement.

The two boys threw themselves to the ground, pale-faced and abandoning all pride. "Sir, please have mercy! We were wrong! We realize our mistake now!"

Gideon stared down at them with dead, merciless eyes. He brushed the brick dust from his knuckles and warned them with a voice as cold as the grave. "If you wish to keep breathing, you must stay far away from Sienna. If I ever see you near her again, there will not be a wall to take the hit."

Terrified by his inhuman strength, the delinquents frantically nodded their heads and swore on their lives. "We swear! We swear on our lives! We will stay far away from Sienna and never appear in her vicinity again!"

The afternoon sun cast long shadows over the quiet street as Sienna and Kaelen arrived at the old oak tree at Oak Lane. The familiar three-story house stood just a short distance away, bathed in the golden light.

Sienna stopped walking and desperately tugged at Kaelen's sleeve. She looked up at him with pleading eyes. "Kaelen, are you sure you do not want to come inside and see Dad? He has missed you so much."

Kaelen gazed longingly at the weathered doorway of his childhood home. A heavy ache settled in his chest, memories of his past flooding his mind. He reached out and gently caressed her silky hair. "When you get inside, tell Edgar that I have resolved everything. You must inform our father that he no longer needs to worry about the debt or the thugs."

Sienna pursed her lips. Deeply hurt and frustrated by his prolonged disappearance, she could not hold back her resentful complaints any longer. "You vanished without a trace for six years. Now that you are finally back, you still refuse to step inside your own home. Clara is mean! You were just trying to protect your girlfriend back then, and she makes everything so difficult!"

Kaelen displayed immense maturity, his tone remaining calm and steady despite the emotional topic. "That is enough, Sienna. It is getting late. Everyone has their reasons. You need to view the situation from Clara's perspective. She is a stressed, pregnant woman right now. Her temper is volatile, and my sudden return will only put our father in a painful, difficult position. Head inside now."

He gently pushed Sienna toward the front gate, offering her an encouraging smile.

Sienna replied reluctantly, shuffling toward the house and glancing over her shoulder one last time. "Fine."

Kaelen sat quietly on the oak's thick roots. He watched in silence until Sienna disappeared through the doorway.

A gentle breeze rustled the leaves above him. Kaelen acknowledged the lingering yearning to return home. He wanted nothing more than to embrace his father, but he accepted the harsh reality. Clara's hot temper meant his sudden presence would only cause chaos inside.

Yet, as he sat there staring at the old walls, he felt overwhelmingly thankful. Fate had allowed him to return precisely in time to protect his family from demolition and violence. If he had been just a few days later, he would have lost everything he held dear.

Kaelen muttered to himself, finding solace in that thought. "There is still enough time to fix everything."

He finally stood up and dusted off his pants. He turned away from the house, preparing to leave the lane.

He had barely reached the main opening of the street when heavy footsteps rapidly approached. Gideon rushed toward him. The giant man's usually stoic expression was gravely solemn, his brow furrowed with deep concern.

Kaelen sensed the drastic shift in the atmosphere, his brow furrowing in response. "What is wrong?"

Gideon bowed his head, unable to meet Kaelen's eyes. "Sir, I just received the news. Your daughter was in an accident."

At those precise words, a low, rumbling hum vibrated through the narrow alley. The very air seemed to fracture under an immense pressure. An invisible, freezing energy erupted violently outward from Kaelen's body. The terrifying aura instantly turned the air deathly still within a ten-meter radius. The temperature plummeted, and the oxygen grew unbearably thin.

Kaelen's black trench coat violently fluttered in the total absence of wind, his eyes flashing with a terrifying, apocalyptic urgency. "How is my daughter?"
