Untouchable in the Dark

Vivienne’s POV

I narrowed my eyes in the dark at Valentin’s sharp response.

“Are you fine, truly?” I asked, studying the outline of him. “You sound…weird.”

“I said I’m fine.”

Which, of course, meant he was absolutely not fine.

There was a slight tremble to his breathing. It was subtle. Controlled. But I noticed.

He braced one hand on the mirrored elevator wall, fingers curling into a loose fist.
