Our next stop on the tour of what was now my new home was the gym. Which had more equipment than the last six fitness centers I’d joined and ghosted combined. I eyed the boxing corner suspiciously. “Does he box?”

“He does.”

“Of course he does. Of course Valentin Sokolov throws punches in a perfectly lit personal arena while wearing all black and brooding about world domination.”
