Playing the Victim

When Coralie woke up again, it was already dawn. Dane always woke up earlier than her. She simply washed and dressed, and when she came out on crutches, she saw Dane already sitting there eating breakfast.

She strode over and seated herself in case Dane would run over to carry her.

Dane seemed to have seen through her mind, but he didn't expose it.

"The driver will take you to the hospital later."
