Fear has a scent but most people think it's sweat. They are wrong. Sweat comes after and fear comes first. It is sharper and colder. Almost metallic. It enters the air before the heartbeat gets faster, before the eyes widen, before someone even realises they are afraid.

And right now, this room is filled with it.
