Kellan had taken a leave from school. No one said why, but the empty space he left behind was sharper than I expected.

I shouldn’t miss him. Of all people, I shouldn’t. But sometimes in the middle of class, or walking through the halls, I’d find myself looking for his figure, listening for his voice.
