It took some time before the words could sink in. My entire body was frozen to the spot as I stared at Kaelen, utterly stunned. It was almost as if time itself had stopped. After all the fighting, after all the ways he tried to keep me trapped here, now—now he was just… letting me go?

“Why?” I demanded, needing to know the reason b
