I slowly walked past the maids in the castle on the way to my private chambers, needing to have a semblance of privacy. I nodded at them to acknowledge their greetings because ignoring them completely would’ve been rude and would have led to a widespread panic as to what was wrong with me. The last thing I needed now was a bunch of maids checking in on me.
