Chained and Unafraid

_Sienna's POV_

I slowly pried my heavy eyelids open. A blinding, splitting ache hammered against the inside of my skull, serving as a brutal physical reminder of the gun's steel grip cracking against my head in the parking lot. The chaotic memories of my ruined wedding crashed into my waking mind all at once. I remembered the sudden bloody shooting tearing through the church, the frantic sprint across the scorching pavement, and my brutal kidnapping.

I tried to shift my weight on the firm mattress. A heavy, freezing metal chain bit into the tender flesh of my left wrist. The thick links clinked menacingly against the sturdy iron frame of the bed as I tugged at the restraint. The room was shrouded in suffocating darkness. I could not see my own hand in front of my face, let alone map out an escape route.

A deep, resonant voice jolted my tense body out of the silence.

"Are you finally awake?"

The overhead lights flicked on with a sharp buzz. I squinted against the harsh glare, my vision swimming for a few agonizing seconds before focusing. A handsome man in his mid-forties leaned casually against the far wall of the bedroom. He possessed the exact same piercing grey eyes of the shooter from the church. His dark hair fell loosely around his face, framing sharp, ruthless features that seemed carved from stone. He wore a simple button-down shirt and tailored trousers, looking relaxed despite the heavy weapon I knew he carried.

He pulled out a lighter and a tobacco wrap. The spark flared in the bright room. He casually lit the end and pulled the toxic smoke deep into his lungs, exhaling a thick grey cloud into the stagnant air.

I sat up against the headboard and stared at him with a blank face.

"I'm asthmatic."

My voice carried a blunt, unwavering edge. Surprisingly, he did not break eye contact for a single millisecond. He simply extended his arm to the side. He handed the smoking wrap away to a hidden, silent figure standing deep in the shadows of the corner. The unseen guard extinguished the smoke instantly.

He studied my face with a cold, calculating gaze. His eyes raked over my torn, dirt-stained wedding dress and the bruises forming on my skin.

"Don't you have any questions you want to ask? Shouldn't you be screaming for mercy or threatening me to release you? Do you not understand the situation you're in?"

I met his mocking gaze without flinching. In my twisted reality, I preferred staying chained to a bed with this unknown kidnapper over returning to my abusive father. The man who raised me wouldn't even care that his political pawn was gone, only that his lucrative business alliance had crumbled to dust. My father viewed me as a bargaining chip, nothing more. I knew how to survive monsters like him. This grey-eyed stranger was just another predator in a world full of them.

"Who are you?" I asked, my voice steady despite the rapid pounding of my heart against my ribs.

His jaw tightened instantly. His large fist clenched at his side, the knuckles turning stark white. Hot anger flared in his previously dead eyes, transforming his stoic expression into one of deep, historical venom. The sudden shift in his demeanor made the air in the room drop ten degrees.

"Twenty-three years and your dad never mentioned me to you?"

I physically shrank back against the mattress. A terrifying chill ran down my spine at his intense reaction. His voice vibrated with a raw, ugly hatred that seemed rooted in decades of bad blood.

"Uhm... I'm twenty-four," I corrected awkwardly, my bravado slipping for a fraction of a second.

He pushed his broad shoulders off the wall. His demeanor turned professional and detached in the blink of an eye, the mask of a seasoned mafia boss sliding perfectly into place. He looked past me, issuing a cold command to the hidden figures lurking in the shadows.

"Prepare her for the wedding, we have just two hours."

Pure panic spiked through my veins. The calm facade I had maintained shattered into a million pieces. A wedding? I had just escaped one bloodbath of a ceremony, and now he intended to force me into another? I struggled against the thick metal chain holding me down, letting the cold steel bite deep into my raw wrist as I threw my weight backward.

"I'm not getting married to anyone." I hissed the words, glaring at his retreating back.

He pivoted slowly on his heel. His grey gaze was icy and devoid of empathy.

"I don't remember asking for your opinion."

He turned his back on me again, walked out of the room, and slammed the heavy door shut. The loud thud echoed in the tense silence, leaving a ringing sound in my ears.

Almost immediately, the door swung open again. A large group of hostile, rough-handed women flooded into the room. They wore dark maid uniforms and surrounded the bed like a pack of wolves cornering their prey. They moved with military precision, their faces twisted into identical sneers of disgust.

"Unchain her, then bathe her. Make sure you scrub every inch of her skin."

The imposing leader of the group barked the order. Her emerald green eyes pinned me down with sheer malice. One of the women stepped forward with a heavy iron key. She unlocked the heavy padlock securing the chain. The metal fell away from my bruised wrist with a loud clank.

The moment I was free, three pairs of rough hands aggressively reached out to grab my torn wedding gown. They yanked at the ruined silk, trying to rip it off my body. I slapped one of their hands away, my nails catching on the woman's wrist and drawing a thin line of blood.

"Don't touch me." I glared at them, trying to shield my body and protect my dignity.

Their imposing leader closed the distance between us in a single stride. She raised her hand and struck my cheek with a hard, ringing slap. The brutal force snapped my head to the side. My ear rang loudly. A harsh, stinging heat bloomed across my skin, leaving a bright red handprint in its wake.

"Don't forget where you are. You're not in Daddy's little mansion, so I suggest you watch how you behave." She threatened with a malicious sneer, leaning down to invade my personal space.

I turned my head back to face her, tasting the metallic tang of blood on my bottom lip. If she thought a single slap would break me, she severely underestimated the lifetime of physical abuse I had endured under my father's roof. I stared right back into her hateful green eyes.

The rest of the women swarmed me. They ignored my struggles, pinning my arms down and yanking the remnants of my wedding gown over my head. They ripped away my delicate lace undergarments, leaving me stripped naked against my will. Cold air hit my bare skin. I was forced to stand exposed in the center of the bathroom. My breasts, my bare thighs, and my naked crotch were on full display under the harsh fluorescent lights. I shivered, crossing my arms over my chest, but rough hands pulled my wrists apart.

They shoved me into a large ceramic tub. Harsh sponges scrubbed raw paths across my arms, chest, and legs. The coarse material tore at my tender skin, leaving angry pink welts behind. They washed away the dirt, sweat, and dried blood from the church parking lot with ruthless efficiency. The hot water burned my fresh scratches.

"Your body isn't even all that. Wash her up, and prepare her. I don't know what has gotten into the boss, but he wants to get married to her."

I listened to their envious, biting mutters as they worked. The imposing leader glared at my naked curves with undisguised resentment. Her words clicked together in my spinning mind. A horrifying, terrifying truth dawned on me. I was being forced into marrying the boss himself. The very man who had just kidnapped me and aimed a gun at my head. The man with greying hair who looked old enough to have a family of his own.

They dragged me out of the tub. My skin burned from the aggressive scrubbing. They forced me into a new, restrictive dress. The stiff fabric encased my torso like a medieval corset. It pulled so tight across my chest that my breasts were crushed upward. I could barely draw a breath. My ribs ached with every shallow inhalation.

"Loosen the back," I choked out, reaching blindly for the intricate laces behind me.

The leader swatted my hands away. She yanked the laces even tighter, securing the suffocating knot. They forced me into a chair, roughly yanking a brush through my tangled hair and smearing cosmetics over my pale face. They worked in harsh, jerky movements, showing no care for the pain they inflicted on my scalp.

Before I could even process the shock of my reflection in the vanity mirror, they hauled me to my feet. They shoved me roughly down a long, dimly lit corridor. We stopped abruptly in front of a heavy wooden door. One of the women thrust a fresh bouquet of white lilies forcefully into my trembling hands. The stems dug into my sore palms. The heavy door groaned open, revealing the short, dread-filled aisle of a dim, makeshift mini-church.

I had no choice but to walk forward. Running was not an option in this unknown territory, surrounded by hostile guards. I placed one foot in front of the other, my shallow breaths burning my restricted lungs.

My kidnapper stood stoically by the altar. He had traded his casual shirt for a sharp, dark suit that accentuated his broad shoulders. The few men scattered in the wooden pews glared at me with open hostility. But none of their glares compared to the groom's. His posture radiated pure hatred towards me. His grey eyes tracked my slow progress down the aisle, promising nothing but pain and retribution. He looked like the grim reaper waiting to claim my soul.

I reached the altar. My sweaty palms gripped the stems of the bouquet tight enough to snap them.

"Make it quick." He coldly ordered the nervous priest. He turned his broad back away from me, refusing to even look at his bride.

The priest cleared his throat, opening his worn leather book. He began reciting the traditional vows, his voice echoing in the hollow space. He spoke of love, honor, and cherish, words that felt like sharp mockery in this cold room.

He waved his hand, cutting the priest off sharply.

"Skip all that."

The priest swallowed hard and jumped straight to the binding questions. He looked at me with pity in his eyes.

"Do you take him as your husband..."

My tongue felt like coarse sand in my dry mouth. The suffocating tightness of the dress restricted my airway, making my head spin with lack of oxygen. I forced the words past my chapped lips, squeezing out a barely audible answer.

"I do."

The priest turned to the towering man beside me.

"Do you, Alessio Ferara, take her to be your wife?"

"I do."

The name *Alessio Ferara* echoed in my spinning, dizzy mind. It bounced against the walls of my skull, growing louder and louder. *Alessio Ferara.* A spark of memory ignited, triggering a world-shattering, terrifying realization. The blood drained from my face. My heart stuttered in my chest.

He roughly shoved a cold metal ring onto my open palm instead of sliding it onto my finger. He pocketed his own hands, his jaw clenched in deep revulsion. He did not want to touch me.

My vision blurred. The edges of the room darkened. My lungs burned agonizingly against the tightly constricting fabric of my dress, starving for oxygen.

It wasn't possible. The name belonged to a ghost. Alessio Ferara was supposed to be dead. He was a phantom from my family's bloody past. He was the brother my father had erased from history. He was the uncle I had been told perished in a tragic accident decades ago.

Ignoring my crumbling state, he turned on his heel and started to walk away from the altar. The ceremony was over. The trap was set. My fate was sealed to a man who despised my very existence.

I reached out for his broad back weakly. My trembling fingers grazed the expensive wool of his suit jacket.

"Uncle Alessio?"

He froze. His broad shoulders went rigid under my fleeting touch. But I couldn't see his reaction. My overwhelmed body finally gave out. The combination of the head trauma, the suffocating dress, and the massive shock was too much to bear. My knees buckled beneath me, folding like cheap paper. The bouquet slipped from my numb fingers, scattering white petals across the cold stone floor. The welcoming darkness rushed up to swallow me, pulling my consciousness under before I hit the ground.
