The Alpha's Proposition

The oppressive, heavy Alpha aura radiating from the tall man inside the freight elevator made Sloane’s skin prickle with deep unease. She stood frozen in the damp hallway, her worn shoes planted on the concrete. Inside the metallic space, the man slowly raised his head. His playful, star-bright golden eyes rested directly on her battered frame. He had just been passionately kissing the curvy woman in his arms. His broad chest still heaved slightly from the exertion, the sound of their wet, frantic mouths only just fading into the hum of the machinery. But now, his full attention locked onto the shabby cleaner standing before him.

Terrified of drawing a werewolf's ire, Sloane immediately dropped her chin. She let her unkempt hair fall forward to hide her scarred face. Gripping her cleaning caddy with trembling fingers, she turned her battered body, desperate to flee down the dim corridor and disappear into the shadows.

"Stop!"

His deep, commanding voice echoed out. It was a direct Alpha order, laced with undeniable supernatural power. The sheer weight of the command slammed into her senses, forcing her muscles to halt. She could not take another step. Desperate not to bother the powerful supernatural being, Sloane kept her eyes glued to the scuffed floor and bowed respectfully. Her posture was submissive, shrinking into herself to appear as small as possible.

"Please forgive me, sir. I'm just a cleaner here and was on my way to clean the private room. I didn't mean to disturb you, and I hope you will forgive me."

Her voice was a harsh, ruined rasp, sounding like cracked glass grating against stone. Unfazed by the ugly sound, the man stepped slightly forward. He studied her hunched form with intense curiosity, his dominant presence filling the small space.

"A cleaner? So young? Get inside."

Trapped by his authority and unable to refuse a direct command, Sloane dragged her heavy cleaning cart inside the metal box. She moved to the furthest corner, pressing her back against the steel wall. She recognized the woman clinging to the man's muscular arm. It was Maeve Voss, one of the top-tier call girls at the Vortex Club. Maeve possessed a breathtaking figure and knew how to use it. Maeve glanced at Sloane's baggy, heavy clothes and ruined complexion. A smirk tugged at Maeve's glossy lips, clearly deciding this pathetic creature posed zero threat to her seduction.

Just as the heavy metal doors began to slide shut, the man threw his hand out. He caught the edge of the door, holding it open effortlessly. He turned his head and casually dismissed the call girl.

"You don't need to follow me. Go first."

Maeve immediately pouted. She pressed her large breasts against his muscular arm, whining in a breathy, high-pitched tone.

"Mr. Locke, I'd like to go with you. We had such a good time. Why do you want me to leave?"

Unmoved by the display, the man reached into his tailored suit jacket. He produced a sleek black bank card and slid it smoothly between Maeve's manicured fingers.

"Go shopping now, you can spend as much as you want. Just sign my name."

Maeve's face instantly lit up with naked greed. All traces of disappointment vanished. She snatched the card, her heels clicking rapidly against the floor as she hurried out of the elevator without a single backward glance.

Sloane watched the transaction in stunned silence, keeping her grip tight on the handle of her mop bucket. She saw the sharp ridicule flash in the man's golden eyes as he watched the woman leave. Then, the heavy doors sealed shut, locking Sloane inside the confined space with him. He turned his imposing frame toward her, a wicked smirk playing on his lips.

"What? Do you want a bank card too?"

His tone dripped with arrogant amusement, challenging her silence.

"No, Mr. Locke."

Sloane replied softly, keeping her chin firmly tucked down to avoid meeting his intense gaze. Taking her avoidance as an invitation to play, he stepped dangerously close. His massive, muscular frame easily dwarfed her fragile body in the tight space. The heat radiating from his chest wrapped around her, suffocating in its intensity. He leaned down until his lips were mere inches from her ear.

"You can call me Brant. Are there any employees at Vortex Club who don't love money? You don't have to deny it. As long as you are willing to act like Maeve, you can also get my money."

His hot, predatory breath ghosted against the sensitive skin of her ear. The intimate proximity sent Sloane’s heart racing in pure panic. She took a quick, frantic step backward to escape his overwhelming heat. However, her injured, badly healed leg gave out under the sudden shift in weight. Her ankle rolled, and she staggered sideways, plummeting toward the hard metal floor.

Instantly, Brant's lightning-fast reflexes kicked in. His strong arm shot out, wrapping firmly around her waist. He hauled her against his solid frame, catching her easily before she could hit the ground.

"Please... Please let go of me."

She stammered frantically. Her frail body trembled against him. She was unaccustomed to such intimate, overpowering physical contact since her long imprisonment. The feeling of his strong arm wrapped around her triggered a wave of nausea and terror.

Brant ignored her plea. Instead, he clamped his other large hand directly over her mouth to muffle her stammering.

"Shut up! That's strange. Most people will scream when they fall, but you don't. But why do you scream now?"

Realizing her visceral reaction of terror stemmed purely from his physical touch, he laughed in a deep, teasing tone. The vibration of his chest rumbled against her shoulder. He looked down and noticed her usually dead, calm demeanor giving way to deeply flushed, red ears. Such genuine modesty and fear were remarkably rare in a den of sin like this club. The sight of her blushing under his touch amused him to no end.

Eager to push the flirtation and strip away her defenses, Brant decided to test her boundaries further. He deliberately slid his large hand under the rough hem of her oversized clothes. The exact second his warm fingers brushed against the bare skin of her waist, he froze in shock.

The smile vanished from his face. The flesh beneath his fingers was unnaturally, horrifyingly slender. It felt jagged, heavily scarred, and lacking any normal layer of fat or muscle. It was unlike the healthy musculature of any human or werewolf he had ever touched in his long life. It felt broken.

Driven by a surge of desperate survival instinct, Sloane shoved his broad chest hard. The adrenaline pumping through her veins gave her a sudden burst of strength, breaking his stunned grip. She stumbled backward, hitting the back wall of the elevator with a loud thud, her chest heaving as she sucked in ragged breaths.

"Your waist..."

Brant breathed out, staring at her in disbelief. He was utterly stunned by the tactile revelation. His hand remained suspended in the air for a brief second before he slowly lowered it.

"So, is this the reason why you wear so much clothes on such a hot day?"

He watched her carefully. His piercing golden eyes narrowed as he noticed the profound contradiction in her wide gaze. She was clearly in immense physical and emotional pain, yet she desperately pretended not to care. Her eyes were vibrantly flamboyant, holding a ghost of old fire and untold stories, yet her posture remained pathetically humble. She stood like a beaten dog, waiting for the next blow, yet her gaze held a flicker of something wild and untamed that had been crushed but never truly extinguished.

The elevator let out a sharp chime. The metal doors began to slide open, revealing the plush carpet and dim lighting of the VIP floor hallway.

The moment the gap was wide enough for her to fit through, Sloane broke into a desperate, frantic run. She abandoned her cleaning cart without a second thought. She just needed to escape the piercing gaze of the Alpha who had discovered her shame.

Her bad leg immediately gave out under the intense strain of her sprint. She crashed painfully to the carpeted floor in less than two steps, her knees slamming into the ground.

Undeterred by the physical pain radiating up her shins, she frantically propped herself up. She scrambled away on all fours along the wall, her breath coming in short, panicked gasps. She was terrified that her most unbearable, humiliating secret—the physical destruction of her body—had been discovered. The scars mapping her torso were a constant reminder of the hell she had survived. She only wanted a quiet, peaceful life in the shadows, far away from the brutal reality of the werewolf world and the Alphas who ruled it.

Brant stepped out of the elevator slowly. He extended his hand, wanting to help her up from the floor. But seeing her sheer terror, the way she crawled away like hunted prey, he realized there was no need to rush. He simply lowered his arm and slowed his pace. He stood in the quiet hallway, his hands tucked into his tailored pants pockets, calmly watching the terrified Sloane scramble away down the hall, heading straight toward the private rooms.
