Time to Strike

Down in the shadowed valley basin, the massive sixty-man alliance team hurled wave after wave of relentless attacks against the towering gibbon ape boss. Sizzling fireballs, jagged ice shards, and concentrated beams of holy light bombarded the creature without pause. Despite the overwhelming numbers, the monster's abnormal resilience turned the rocky battlefield into a brutal meat grinder. The heavy frontline vanguard suffered massive damage. Casualties spiked as the grueling minutes bled by, turning the canyon dirt red.

Hidden secure in the dense, overgrown foliage atop the overlooking cliff, Night Dreamer paced back and forth across the ridge. She gripped her carved wooden lute so tight her knuckles turned white. Beside her, Aegis Shield shifted his heavy metallic armor, the steel plates clinking softly. Both players vibrated with the overwhelming urge to strike. Down below, the giant beast's massive health bar dwindled inch by inch, creeping closer into the fatal red zone.

"We need to jump down right now." Night Dreamer pointed her instrument toward the chaotic slaughter below, her voice urgent. "The monster is almost dead. If we wait out here any longer, the alliance will secure the kill, and we lose everything."

Kaelen Vance remained motionless under the digital skin of his avatar, AuraApex. He kept his cold, calculating eyes fixed on the exhausted alliance ranks. He read the shifting momentum of the battlefield like an open book.

"Now is not the time. If you think it is okay, you can go down first and die." Kaelen spoke in a flat, uncompromising tone, refusing to even glance in her direction.

Night Dreamer bit her lower lip in sheer frustration. Bound by his undeniable authority and his vast tactical superiority, she swallowed her impatience. She crouched back down into the brush, forcing herself to wait.

Ten agonizing minutes crawled past in the basin. An ordinary dungeon boss would have perished long ago under such sustained, heavy focus fire. This hidden gibbon possessed monstrous health scaling. It stubbornly clung to life, roaring and smashing the ground.

Just as Kaelen anticipated, the fatal, glaring flaw in the massive alliance soon surfaced. Their disorganized, spam-heavy assault drained their collective resources dry. The team's mana pools bottomed out across the board. The sparse mana potions finally ran bone dry.

A wave of palpable panic rippled through the alliance ranks. The backline ranged attackers lowered their glowing staffs in dismay. Their magical spells fizzled into nothingness, leaving them holding dead wood.

"My mana is empty! I need a potion!"

"I have nothing left! Share the remaining blue potions right now!"

The frantic shouts drifted up to the cliff. The panicked alliance leader organized a desperate redistribution of their few remaining consumables. Players received one or two potions at best, a pathetic drop in the bucket that vanished in seconds.

Kaelen narrowed his eyes at the precise moment the final ranged spell fizzled out. The enemy backline stood useless.

"It is now." Kaelen issued his commands with perfect timing. "Ghosting, taunt the boss and drag it into the thick woods ahead. Aegis Shield, wait until they chase the boss, then jump direct into the center of the crowd with your heavy ultimate. Warlock, circle around to the forest right now. As soon as the boss passes through, block the entrance with your barrier."

He turned to the anxious bard. "Night Dreamer, follow me."

The five-man squad snapped into action.

Down in the chaotic basin, the bewildered alliance struggled to maintain their formation without any magical support. Moving like a literal phantom, Ghosting dashed through the heavy tanks. The thief slipped past the distracted vanguard and struck the massive ape with a precision aggro skill. A bright red blood-drop mark flared above the gibbon's head. The enraged beast roared, turning its towering body away from the alliance. It lumbered toward the dense treeline, chasing the elusive rogue.

"Who is that? We have intruders! Ignore them and take care of the boss first!" The frantic alliance leader screamed, pointing his blade toward the retreating monster.

Before the furious players could turn to pursue the nimble thief, Aegis Shield plummeted from the high cliff like a meteor. He activated his heavy ultimate skill mid-air. He landed dead center in the vanguard formation with a deafening, earth-shattering crash. Deep trenches ripped through the soil. The immense shockwave tossed heavy armored players into the air like ragged dolls. Dust and thick debris choked the battlefield, plunging their fragile formation into screaming chaos.

"Keep calm! Keep moving forward! Do not let the boss get away!" The alliance leader roared, waving his men through the blinding dust.

The alliance deputy attempted a desperate maneuver to split his disorganized forces. He assigned a small detachment of warriors to handle the rampaging, unkillable shielder, while the main group chased the fleeing boss in a frenzy.

The mob sprinted toward the woods. A sudden, glowing curtain of magical light erupted from the soil, dropping from the sky to seal the forest entrance. The Warlock’s barrier pulsed with thick arcane energy. The charging players crashed face-first into the impenetrable wall.

Bereft of all mana, the casters and warriors stood helpless. They hacked at the magical shield with their weak base weapons. Iron swords and wooden staffs clanged against the light curtain, doing microscopic base damage.

Deep within the shadows of the woods, the giant ape crashed through the underbrush. AuraApex dropped from a high tree branch, ambushing the incoming monster. He activated his sweep skill. He swung his heavy iron rod with terrifying speed, bringing it down hard upon the top of the gibbon's skull.

AuraApex frowned as the damage numbers popped up. The heavy strike barely dented the massive health pool. The gibbon was a heavily fortified hidden boss with extreme physical defense. This explained why the massive alliance took a full hour to grind its health down.

"How long can you hold the barrier?" Kaelen shouted over his shoulder, dodging a sweeping backhand from the ape.

"Three minutes at most." The Warlock stood firm, channeling his remaining energy into the magical wall.

Knowing the fragile barrier was doomed to fall fast under the mob's physical assault, AuraApex and Ghosting fought with fierce desperation.

"Night Dreamer, increase the attack power for me and Ghosting!" Kaelen yelled, driving his rod into the beast's knee.

Night Dreamer rapidly strummed her instrument. Continuous musical notes enveloped the two melee fighters. Empowered by the relentless buffs, they unleashed everything they had. Daggers flashed in the dim light. The heavy iron rod cracked against thick fur. They raced against the ticking clock.

Despite their combined barrage, the boss clung to life. The beast's health bar crept down at an agonizing, sluggish pace.

A loud boom echoed through the trees. The glowing light curtain shattered like fragile glass. Arcane shards rained down on the forest floor.

A furious, screaming mob swarmed into the woods. Hundreds of angry footsteps trampled the underbrush.

Night Dreamer lost all hope. She saw the tide of vengeful players rushing toward their position. "AuraApex, we must withdraw!"

Kaelen glanced at the dying, high-tier boss. Victory was mere inches away. Unwilling to abandon the kill, he made a reckless, insane gamble.

"You guys continue fighting the boss. I will intercept them." Kaelen issued his final order.

Instead of retreating into the shadows, he charged headlong and alone direct into the incoming horde.

The arrogant alliance leader saw the lone figure rushing toward him. He let out a harsh laugh. He assumed AuraApex was simply throwing his life away in a suicidal bid to delay the inevitable.

"Leave him alone. Do not let him stall us. Secure the boss first!" The leader barked his orders, waving his vanguard forward.

He made a fatal mistake.

AuraApex did not aim to block the heavy frontline. Utilizing his elusive footwork, Kaelen bypassed the grunts. He slipped through the gaps in their chaotic formation like water flowing through rocks. He descended direct upon the mana-depleted leader standing in the rear.

Kaelen unleashed his brutal, high-speed Eight Trigram Stick. The heavy iron rod moved with blinding ferocity.

The leader raised his weapon to block, but his mana pool was bone dry. He could not activate a single defensive skill. He could not cast a shield or parry enhancement to absorb the impact.

The iron rod smashed against his shoulder, shattering his stance. The next strike swept his legs out from under him. Kaelen battered the man to the ground in less than twenty lightning-fast moves.

AuraApex pressed the tip of his weapon hard against the leader's throat.

"If your mob does not stop right now, I will blow up your leader's equipment." Kaelen roared, his cold voice cutting through the din of the forest.

The threat worked in an instant. The charging mob froze dead in their tracks. The frontline hesitated, looking back at their captured commander. In a game where high-tier gear was incredibly valuable, no one wanted to be responsible for their boss dropping his loot upon death.

The leader felt the cold iron pressing against his skin. He realized the devastating trap he was in. His pride flared.

"Leave me alone! Fight the boss quickly!" The leader screamed at his men.

Without a microsecond of hesitation, AuraApex brought the rod down again. He struck the leader in rapid succession. Bone-crunching impacts echoed in the silent woods. The brutal beating smashed the leader's health down to a microscopic inch of his life. One more stiff breeze would send him to the respawn point.

The alliance members stood paralyzed with fear. They gripped their weapons, terrified of making a single wrong move that would trigger the fatal blow.

"Are you deaf? Kill the boss!" The leader screamed again, his voice cracking with sheer rage and humiliation.

The crowd finally abandoned caution. They surged forward, weapons raised, rushing toward the clearing where the giant ape battled the rogue.

It was far too late.

Ghosting vaulted over the ape's sweeping arm. He plunged his daggers deep into the beast's neck. He delivered the final, fatal blow.

The collapsing ape crashed to the forest floor, kicking up a massive cloud of dust.

A metallic, server-wide system chime echoed across the bloody battlefield.

"Congratulations to players AuraApex, Night Dreamer, Ghosting, Aegis Shield, and Warlock for successfully killing the hidden boss."

The mechanical voice sealed the outcome.

The charging mob ground to a halt. The players dropped their arms, staring at the massive corpse in sheer disbelief.

Crushing despair washed over the alliance leader. They had just spent an agonizing, bloody hour paving the way for someone else's glorious triumph. His men bled and died to whittle down the boss, only for a five-man squad to swoop in and steal the final prize.

The furious leader slammed his fist into the dirt. He glared up at the man standing over him. He spit blood onto the grass.

"AuraApex, you are finished!"
