As expected, that night, when Carla came home, she found the card.

Watching her fluster through the binoculars, completely lost, gave me a twisted sense of satisfaction. I thought, 'Why am I the one struggling in the darkness, with Rowan still sick, while these shameless people seem to be living it up?'
