Hearing what Valerie said, Matilda seemed to be talked out of it.

She patted her thigh, got up in a hurry, and dashed toward the house.

Valerie was startled by Matilda, not knowing what she was going to do.

"Matilda, where are you going? Don't you want to take a walk? Valerie shouted, trotting behind her.

Matilda was exactly the same as when she
