Victor was silent on the other end of the line. I didn't push him to speak. I knew he needed a moment to process the shift in our reality. Getting me to agree to this move had been his battle, and now he had finally won.

"Okay. Please ask Cora to urgently email me the list of American school options," I told him, breaking the quiet. "I will make my choice today and let her know."
