Shattered Facade

Toby called Declan Daddy, and Vanessa instinctively looked at Declan. Vanessa couldn't bring herself to let her son address Declan as "Daddy" in public or in front of others.

Declan's unchanged expression and his exchange of greetings with Toby reassured her that he embraced the role Toby had bestowed upon him. Vanessa finally breathed a sigh of relief, feeling that her son had done a great job.
