Unwanted Honor

The whole car ride back home was a zoom. The trees and the streetlights blurred together into a messy streak of gray and gold, and I felt like I was floating outside of my own body. My heart was thumping so hard against my ribs that I was surprised Kaelen couldn't hear it, but I kept my lips pressed together and stared straight out the windshield. I didn't want to look at him, and I definitely did
