Forced Penetration and Claiming
POV: First-person (Arabella)
The sharp scent of Korean BBQ smoke clinging to my jacket snaps me back to the present. I force my eyes open. Sitting in the dark shadows of the tourist strip will not change the bleak reality of my existence. The heavy silence inside the blue convertible presses against my chest. It is a constant reminder of my unworthiness. I shift the car into drive and pull out onto the busy main road. The neon signs of the city blur past my windshield as I navigate the damp streets. I pass by the hospital where I just finished a gruelling fourteen-hour shift, wishing I could turn back and lose myself in the sterile wards. Anything is better than facing the reality of my life.
The drive back to my apartment building feels endless, a blur of red taillights and slick asphalt. I pull into the underground parking garage and park in my assigned spot. I cut the engine and step out into the crisp, cold night air. The sharp chill bites through my thin medical scrubs, making me shiver. I wrap my arms tight around my torso and walk toward the concrete stairwell. My worn sneakers squeak against the wet steps as I climb to my floor. My keys jingle lightly in my trembling hand. I just want the quiet safety of my own space. I want to lock the heavy deadbolt, strip off these hospital clothes that smell like antiseptic, and bury myself under my heavy blankets to hide from the harsh world.
I slide the brass key into the lock and turn the metal cylinder. The door clicks open. The second I push the heavy door wide and step onto the welcome mat, the comforting aroma of freshly prepared food greets me. The rich scent of roasted meats, simmering garlic, and baked bread wafts down the short entryway. The domestic scene makes my stomach churn in pure disgust.
Luna Rossi, Mateo's mother and my former mentor, stands in my kitchen. She wears a pristine designer dress that contrasts with my cheap linoleum floors. She holds a wooden spoon, stirring a simmering pot on my stove as if she holds the deed to my apartment. Mateo stands near the kitchen island, setting my small dining table with my mismatched plates, folded napkins, and silverware. He moves with an easy arrogance, placing water glasses down as if this is a normal family dinner and not a hostile home invasion. The sheer audacity of the situation paralyzes me in the doorway. My abusive mate brought his mother into my private sanctuary to fix his disastrous life and force my compliance. I never thought my powerful alpha mate would run to his mother to solve his relationship problems, especially after he married the elite, beta-ranked woman she handpicked to replace me.
Luna Rossi turns her head toward the hallway. She spots me standing frozen by the door, dripping rainwater onto the mat.
"Arabella," she beams. She projects a grating, venomous enthusiasm that makes my skin crawl. "It is a little late for you to be out wandering on your own, isn't it?"
I bite the inside of my cheek hard enough to taste copper. I stare at her perfect, unbothered face, my jaw locked tight. How dare she break into my home and judge my work schedule? She holds no authority here, not even as the Luna of the City. I want to scream at her to get out of my kitchen. I want to throw the simmering pot onto the floor. Yet, out of the lingering, foolish respect I once harbored for her before she orchestrated the destruction of my life, I hold my tongue.
I want no part of this twisted family dinner. I kick my damp sneakers off by the door, drop my keys on the side table, and ignore both of them. I make a direct line down the narrow hallway, seeking the quiet safety of my bedroom.
Before I can reach my door, Mateo steps into the hallway. His broad shoulders and tall, muscular frame block my path. He towers over me, a physical wall of muscle and dominance.
"Dinner will be ready in a bit," he states. His voice leaves no room for argument.
I attempt to maintain a facade of polite indifference. "I already had dinner, thank you," I say. I roll my eyes, refusing to show him how much his presence terrifies me, and attempt to shoulder past his solid chest.
His reaction is instantaneous. He lunges forward like a predator. His large, heavy fingers clamp down onto my left arm. He grabs the exact spot where he left dark purple bruises on my skin just the night before. He digs his blunt fingertips deep into the damaged muscle. The sharp pain flares hot and fast, shooting down to my elbow and forcing a loud gasp from my lips. I yank my arm, trying to pull out of his hold, but his iron grip is unyielding. I look up at his face, wishing I possessed the physical strength to hurt him back with my whole existence.
"Get cleaned up for dinner, Baby," he growls. He assumes a dominating stance, his dark eyes flashing, his voice dropping into a harsh command. "My mother prepared dinner for us. Take those off." He gestures at my damp medical scrubs.
The two of us stare at one another in a tense standoff. He does not loosen his punishing grip on my bruised flesh. The pain throbs down to my bone. I cast a desperate glance over his massive shoulder. Luna Rossi stands by the stove, watching us play out this toxic dynamic. She smiles with sickening pride at her son's oppressive display of alpha dominance over a wolfless omega. She does not meet my gaze, and she makes no move to intervene on my behalf.
Trembling with suppressed rage and fear, I realize fighting his physical strength right now is useless. I do not argue. He finally releases my arm, his fingers sliding off my skin. I stumble back, turn on my heel, and rush straight into the bathroom. I slam the solid wood door shut and lock the metal deadbolt.
My heart pounds a frantic rhythm against my ribs, beating so fast my chest physically aches. I reach over and turn the sink faucet on full blast. The rushing water hits the cold porcelain basin, echoing off the tile walls to mask the sound of my voice. My hands shake as I pull my phone from my scrub pocket. I swipe the screen and dial my grandmother's number.
She answers the line on the very first ring. "I have been so worried about you."
The dam inside me breaks. Through desperate, choked tears, I press the cold phone to my cheek. "GG," I whisper into the receiver, my voice cracking. "Luna Rossi is here. I don't feel safe."
My grandmother's response is an anchor of cold, calculated calm. "All right," she states, her tone dropping into a tactical register. "Just do as you are told. I am on my way."
"Hurry," I plead, trying to steady my erratic breathing.
"Bella!" I jump, nearly dropping my phone onto the floor, as the bathroom door shakes hard in its frame. Mateo bangs his heavy fists against the thick wood, rattling the hinges.
"I can at least have a moment to shower, can't I?" I yell back, keeping my voice loud to hide the panic. I shove my phone deep between the stacked towels on the wall shelf, hiding the device from view just in case he breaks in.
Seconds later, the brass doorknob twists. The metal lock groans under the immense pressure of his alpha strength. The door bursts open, splintering the wood frame into sharp pieces, as Mateo breaches the confined space. His demeanor is terrifying. His eyes are pitch dark with an animalistic rage. Thick veins bulge against his forehead and thick neck. He breathes heavily, his chest heaving with anger.
He crowds me against the sink counter, trapping me between his body and the edge of the basin. "What were you just whispering?" he demands.
Knowing that showing fear will trigger his suspicions, I hold his furious gaze with stubborn defiance. I refuse to be complacent. "I just got off a long shift at the hospital. I want to take a shower. You don't need to be in here for that."
His volatile, manic expression softens into a deceptive mask of remorse. He reaches up, his large hand brushing a loose strand of hair from my damp face.
"Shit, I am sorry," he murmurs in a dark, heavy tone.
His hands drop from my face and grab my waist. With effortless alpha strength, he lifts my body right off the floor and deposits me onto the hard, cold surface of the bathroom sink. Before I can react or push him away, he grips the bottom hem of my scrub top. He yanks the fabric up and pulls it roughly over my head, stripping me of my shirt. I am trapped between his thick body and the cold bathroom mirror behind my back. I stare at him, repulsed by the physical presence of the man who was once the center of my universe.
"I keep fucking things up," he mutters. He buries his hand deep in my hair, pulling my head back just enough to expose my neck and face.
He crushes his lips directly against mine. He weaponizes our biological mate bond. Intoxicating, unwanted sparks shoot through my nervous system, a harsh biological response forced upon me against my will. My traitorous omega biology betrays my rational mind. My core physical reactions ignite to his alpha pheromones, flushing my bare skin with unwanted heat even as hot tears of violation spill rapidly down my cheeks. He catches a tear on his tongue and pushes deeper into my space.
I break the kiss, gasping for air. I cry out, shoving my palms forcefully against his broad, muscular chest. "Please, I don't want this! Stop!" I beg him, desperate for him to hear me.
"Shh, it is okay," he harshly shushes me, overriding my physical protests.
He steps closer, forcing my knees wide apart, and wraps my bare legs tightly around his waist to lock me in place. To silence my cries, he clamps his large, calloused hand firmly over my mouth. The bitter taste of salt and raw fear fills my throat.
Pure panic suffocates me as he reaches down with his free hand. He unzips his pants, the harsh sound of metal grating against the roar of the running faucet. He reaches inside his underwear and pulls out his thick, hard penis. He shows no hesitation and zero care for my readiness. He grips my hips tight and forces his penis inside my vagina.
The physical intrusion is sharp, dry, and violating. My mind blanks out from the sheer trauma of the sudden penetration. My body internally screams in agony as he breaches me. The friction burns my sensitive tissues, tearing at me without mercy. The pain is a blinding white flash behind my eyes. I thrash on the sink, kicking my feet and twisting my torso, but my frantic struggling against his solid frame only fuels his rough, relentless thrusting. He growls low in his chest, mistaking my fight for submission to the mate bond. The heavy, suffocating scent of his alpha pine pheromones fills the cramped bathroom, choking the oxygen from my lungs.
He keeps his hand clamped over my mouth, drowning out my muffled whimpers. He pounds his penis deep into my vagina in a steady rhythm, the wet slapping sounds of his hips hitting my thighs echoing loudly over the running water. He leans in close, his hot breath fanning my ear, repeatedly murmuring, "You're mine, Arabella. You are the only one I want."
He continues his brutal assault, slamming his penis into my vagina with punishing force. My pelvis aches with every deep thrust. The cold mirror presses into my bare back as he uses my body to satisfy his twisted need for dominance. I stare up at the ceiling, tears blurring my vision. He groans loud, his fingers bruising my hips as he snaps his hips forward and reaches his climax. He empties his semen deep inside my vagina. In this horrific, agonizing moment, the final illusion shatters. I realize I was never a human being to him. I am merely a possession he legally owns and uses to satisfy his base urges, no better than the shiny new car his parents bought him for his birthday.
After he finishes pumping his semen into my body, he slowly pulls his penis out of my vagina. He zips up his pants, straightens his shirt, and steps back from the sink. He glances at me one last time, acting as if everything that just happened is now behind us, before turning around and walking out of the bathroom. He leaves the splintered door hanging open.
I sit on the cold porcelain for a long time, staring blankly at the tiled wall. Blood and semen drip down my inner thighs, pooling on the counter and staining the floor. I slide off the sink, my legs trembling so hard I have to hold onto the counter edge with both hands to stay upright. I step directly into the shower stall. I turn the dial, letting the steaming hot water run over my shivering skin. I feel hollow. I grab a bar of soap and mindlessly scrub at the physical feeling of his forced penetration. I scrub my skin until it turns red, desperate to wash away the sticky residue of his assault and the lingering scent of his pine pheromones. I watch the pink-tinged water swirl down the metal drain, taking a piece of my soul with it.
I turn the water off and step out, grabbing a fresh towel. I dry my hair and my body, moving like a mechanical doll. I put on a pair of loose gray sweatpants and an oversized long-sleeved shirt to cover the fresh bruises blooming on my arms. I take a deep, shaky breath. GG told me to do as I am told until she gets here. I have to play along. I have to survive this nightmare until my grandmother arrives.
I walk out of the narrow hallway and step back into the dining room. Mateo is already sitting at the table, his broad shoulders hunched as he stares at his plate, ignoring my entrance.
Luna Rossi stands stiffly by the set table. Her hands are neatly folded over her stomach. She wears that deeply familiar, maternal smile. That smile used to be my greatest comfort back before my mother passed away. Luna Rossi used to treat me like her own daughter. She would proudly tell anyone in the pack who would listen that I, Arabella Varg, was her only son's fated mate. But that was before Mateo exposed my omega status to the territory. They sent him away, and I was no longer invited to Sunday dinners in the main house. That was before she banished me from their elite family circle and declared my bloodline unworthy.
The hypocrisy of her standing in my home is maddening. If I am such a profound disgrace to their pristine bloodline, why won't they just allow me to quietly leave? I could disappear at the end of the semester. I would not make a fuss, and I would not ask for a single thing in return. No sane person would endure this relentless humiliation, even if I am considered a lowly omega.
She steps aside to her right, pulling out the chair directly to Mateo's left. She gestures toward the empty seat.
"Why don't you come take a seat, Arabella?" she asks.
Her eyes dart from the empty chair to my face. The subtle gesture drips with an unspoken, dangerous threat. She smiles tight, her maternal mask slipping just enough to reveal her true intentions, and announces, "I think we need to have a serious talk."
