Valerie's POV

A soft knock pulled me from the light edge of sleep. However, I ignored it, thinking that maybe I was just dreaming again.

Just as I was about to drift into my dreamland, I heard the soft knock again.

"Valerie?" Evelina's voice filtered through the door, warm but careful.

I sighed, pushed the hair from my face, and took off the blanket that wrapped around me. "Come in."
