Camilla sniffed loudly, aggressive in the way she shook her head side to side on the plush pillows. "I won't cry," she insisted fiercely, her voice thick but coated in a brittle layer of defiance. She tilted her chin, peering up at my hardened face. "Why do you even care? You've seen worse than someone crying."

She wasn't wrong. I internally admitted the harsh truth of her words.
