The Unfinished Canvas

It had been two years since they'd last seen each other. Nadine didn't want to bring up any bad memories. She pulled Sloane aside, asking with genuine concern, "When'd you get back?"

"Over a month ago," Sloane replied, forcing a smile. But after two years of being completely isolated and with those painful memories flooding back, her smile looked painfully strained.

Nadine knew about the Caldwells
