The Night We Met

~VALERIE'S POV~

Leo's hand was warm in mine, and when I looked across the table at Donovan, I saw something different in his face. The cold examination was gone, replaced by something softer.

More human.

"Are you both happy?" Leo asked, his blue eyes moving between us.

I squeezed his hand gently. "I'm getting there, baby."

Donovan's fingers tightened around Leo's other hand. "Me too, buddy."
