Closing the Distance

The traffic light turned green, so instead of answering his question, Valerie urged, "The light has turned green."

Dominic looked away and slowly sped up.

Silence ensued in the car. Valerie couldn't help but feel guilty when she recalled Dominic's "Really?" earlier.
