The Peace Offering

Without opening her eyes, Serena's hands stroked the sheets, and then she grabbed a phone before raising her eyelids.

"Six-fifty! It's still so early?" Serena groaned in annoyance.

Then she looked to the left and pouted at the empty sheets, bothered that Kaelen wasn't there.

"Did he go to work already again?" Serena mumbled, still feeling drowsy as she sat up in bed.

Swaying her gaze back on t
