Quiet Desperation
By nightfall, the storm had only gotten worse. They were spending the night here. That much was certain.
A few hotheads had already started cursing the weather. Others, the ones who'd eaten through everything they'd carried by dinner, were getting twitchy. Their eyes kept drifting to the people around them, lingering a beat too long. What they were thinking didn't need to be said out loud.
