Sadie looked pretty annoyed.

Callum just smiled. "That's how it usually goes."

She glanced at him. "So you're the exception, huh?"

His smile got a little wider. Sometimes, Sadie could crack a joke.

"Yeah," he said. "They basically targeted me. The way they treated me wasn't fair. My old mayor stepped in and cleared my record. They only sent a note to my original household office to explain things.
